Upon completion of high school, cadets either enroll in the College of the Bahamas or enlist in the Police Recruit Training programme. Cadets that opt to enlist into the Police Recruit Training programme must meet the basic requirements of having four (4) B.G.C.S.E. with C or above passes inclusive of Mathematics and English. Being a police cadet will not allow for automatic access into the police recruit training.

OBLIGATION OF RECIPIENTS OF EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS

All cadets are encouraged to take full advantage of the programme's educational award through the College of the Bahamas. Those cadets who seek the educational assistance of the Cadet programme are bounded by the following obligations.

Recipients of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Cadet Corps Educational Assistance Award must pursue the area of study for which the award was granted. If a recipient wishes to change his/her area of study, approval must be granted by the Commissioner of Police prior to the change.

Transcripts must be submitted to the Police Training College at the end of every term or session. The payments of tuition may be suspended while the recipient is on Academic Probation. A recipient who is on Academic Probation for two (2) consecutive semesters will result in the award being withdrawn.
The educational assistance Award will only be valid for the degree level that has been approved. Recipients are therefore not allowed to begin studies for another degree or certification.
If a recipient completes his/her course of study prior to the time originally allocated, he/she may not commence studies for another degree as this will be considered a new award. Persons wishing to continue their studies must make a new application in compliance with this policy.

The granting of consecutive Educational Assistance Award will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.
Three months prior to graduation of completion of their studies, the recipient must notify the Commandant- Police Training College. This must be done to ensure that adequate provisions are made for the Cadet to be processed to join the next squad being recruited.
Failure to comply with these requirements will be considered a breach of the agreement for the grant of the Educational Assistance Award and may result in the award being withdrawn.

BONDS
All recipients of Educational Assistance Awards will be bonded to the Bahamas Government for a period equivalent in length of the duration of studies. It is expected that the Cadet will join the Police Force on completion of their studies.

Each bond will cover the cost of tuition and other expenses paid by the Government.
Each Applicant must have the bond signed by three (3) capable individuals who will act as sureties.
All bonds must be completed and signed before the applicant begins studies and funds are disbursed.
If a person cannot fulfill the bond obligations, permission must be obtained to have the bond deferred before any further action can be taken.
If a Cadet fails to join the police force on completion of their studies, then the Cadet and his/her bondsmen will be required to fully repay all expenses paid by the Government, on the date specified or in payment terms not exceeding three (3) years.
Failure to meet these requirements may result in legal action being taken to recover the funds involved.
