Cadet Corps Rule
- Cadets shall stand at attention when speaking to an adult or senior in rank.
- Cadets shall always be clean and tidy in person and dress, e.g.
- Hair properly groomed
- Clean face
- Finger nails clean and trimmed
- Clothing cleaned and properly pressed
- Shoes clean at all times
- When not in uniform male Cadets will wear a necktie with their shirt and trousers. All female Cadets will wear a skirt and blouse dress while on duty, attending at the Cadet Office, or other functions.
- Cadets must always address an adult or senior in rank with respect, e.g.
Yes Sir – No Sir
Yes Ma’am – No Ma’am
Please Sir – Thank you Sir
Please Ma’am – Thank you Ma’am etc.
- When a Cadet is sick and unable to work or attend a function, a sick certificate or evidence of sickness or inability must be produced to an instructor or the Cadet’s Office within two (2) days of said occasion, and before he or she appears again for the next tour of duty.
- All requests for time off or special requests must be submitted in writing to an instructor. Within a reasonable period of time.
- All requests for permission to leave the island during periods that Cadets are required to work or attend functions must be made by the parent or guardian of the Cadet. Within a reasonable period of time.
- Cadets shall report for duty fifteen (15) minutes before the stated time, to be paraded and inspected.
- A Cadet shall report any incident involving him or herself or any incident involving any other Cadet that comes to his or her attention.
- All reports and requests are to be made to the instructor who is directly responsible for the supervision of the squad.
- Cadets should never speak out of turn. Permission to speak shall be obtained by first raising your hand.
- Each Cadet shall work a minimum of eighteen (18) hours per week.
- Cadets shall collect their pay cheques from the Cadet Office every Friday between the hours of 3:00p.m. and 5:00 p.m. In the event of a holiday being on the Friday, schedules will be issued on the Thursday between the same hours.
- In addition to whatever punishment that may be awarded to a Cadet who is absent from duty or who fails to attend a function without leave or permission, there will be a deduction for the amount of days absent from tours of duty from your salary.
- Cadets shall be in possession of their identification cards at all times.
- Sun shades shall only be worn by Cadets when prescribed by a doctor.
- All Cadets shall wear uniform (normal dress) on Saturdays unless otherwise instructed.
- All Cadets are required to have their uniforms cleaned and ready to be worn, and to report any uniform or equipment that has been lost, stolen or damaged immediately.
- When reporting for duty at the Police College, Cadets shall not wonder about the compound or stand on the porch.
- Cadets should not damage or deface Government or other people’s property.
- The captain of each squad of Cadets is responsible to see to it that the Cadets in each squad are properly seated in the classrooms or auditorium, and that the roll has been called upon the arrival of the instructors or teachers so that a proper report can be given.
- All Cadets shall exercise proper hygiene to prevent the outbreak of diseases and minimize the spread of germs.
- The captain of the senior Cadet Squad is to ensure that grace is said before meals on Saturdays.
- No Cadet shall leave the Police College grounds on Saturdays or absent himself from any other function or duty to which he or she has already reported without expressed permission from an instructor.
- Whenever a Cadet is late for duty or any function for whatever reason he or she is to report to an instructor upon arrival and state his or her reasons for being late.
- All cadets must report the following immediately:
- Change of address
- Change of telephone number
- Change of school attended
- Amount of subject passed – B.G.C.S.E. Exam
- Cadets requiring transportation
- Any awards received
- Any suspension or expulsion from school
- Any change in programme or syllabus for Cadets at the College of The Bahamas or other institutes of learning other that high school.
- In the event of uncertainty in any matter Cadets are required to ask their instructors or contact the Cadets Office for proper instructors.
- All Cadets will exhibit respect for each other.
- Cadets shall obey all written and oral instructions given by instructors and persons in authority over them in the Cadet programme.
- All Cadets are subject to such Police Disciplinary Regulations as apply to Police Recruits and conditions of service.
