Constable 2689 Othello Robert Darville

On Sunday, 17th July 1983 a beautiful baby boy was born to the late Robert Darville and Patricia Pedican-Darville. He was the first of four boys born in their happy union. They named him Othello Robert Darville. Othello was always a very active and bright child. He loved playing dominoes, shooting pool, playing the organ and playing basketball. There are so many so many stories that the community of The Bluff, Eleuthera could share of how mischievous, helpful, humble, outspoken and friendly Othello was. He was loved by everyone who he came in contact with because with him he always brought a joyful playful spirit.

When Othello was only four years old, he began his education at The Bluff All Age School in The Bluff Eleuthera and later attended the Governors Harbour High School. In 1999, the North Eleuthera High School opened in Lower Bogue, Eleuthera with Othello's Class of 2000 being the first to graduate from that school.

Although he was young, he took his responsibilities seriously and started working at a very early age. He was stationed at both Governors Harbour Airport and North Eleuthera Airport where he worked for Southern Air Charter and Continental Airlines.

Othello's greatest dream was to become a pilot. This dream attracted him to the Royal Bahamas Police Force Air Wing. On September 26, 2002, he began his career as Recruit Constable 2689 and in May 2003, after nine months at the Police Training College,, he graduated with D Squad 2002.

In 2003 shortly after passing out of training, Othello met his wife Robyne Francis and together they had two children Oryse and O'Rhyan. Othello often talked about his love for his wife and his two beautiful children wherever he was. He was a proud family man who loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of how his children resembled him.

Othello loved his job as a Policeman and his last posting was at the Mobile Division where he was very excited to work each day.

On Thursday 22nd October 2009, Othello left home to go to work. While at work he and his wife called each other back and forth numerous times. Shortly after one in the afternoon, while responding to a call, he was involved in a horrific traffic accident. At 1:37pm, his life was tragically taken from his family and those who loved him.

Detective Corporal 2453 Desmond Burrows

On Tuesday May 24th, 1977, a handsome baby boy was born to Linda and Recruit Constable 1219 Tyrone Burrows, whom they christened Desmond Dion. Desmond being the first born son led the way for his brothers: Devon, Tyrone (TJ), Valentino (Tino) and Lithario (Tario). As a yound child, he spent many summers with his family on the island of Sounth Andros; rambling around the settlement of Deep Creek, going fishing on the rocks and just having a heart time with family and childhood friends.

From an early age, Desmond knew responsibility; as he often went on errands to Burrows Convenient Store for his parents and saw to it, that he and his brother Devon would walk to and from school in a timely fashion, arriving home just in time to watch Sesame Street.

The education of this 'Happy Go Lucky' young man began first at home with his parents. He attended Tiny Tots Preschool under the tutelage of Ms. Saunders, Oakes Field Primary, C.C.Sweeting Junior and Senior High Schools where he graduated in the year of 1994.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute with the intention of pursuing a career in Electrical Installation. However, being inspired by his father and following in this footsteps, he joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force, where he served with excellence.

Desmond was always enthusiastic, never complained about his job and served courageously even when he had to be the sole officer in places, such as Ragged Island and Exuma duriing his postings.

A change came over Desmond in the year 2004; it was an extraordinary change. He was exceptionally elated, terribly happy, overjoyed, ecstatic, rapturous, blissful and delighted to call and tell eveyone he knew that something great had happened to him. Now, something wonderful had happened to him. He had became the proud father of a healthy and exuberant baby girls, Re'Sade. Indeed he did shout it from the mountain top, that he had became a father. Since 2004, Desmond's life has never been the same because he immersed himself in his daughters life and it made him even more aware of the joy of living life to its fullest and never allowing circumstances or position in life to determine his destiny. It was no longer just Desmond; it was now Desmond and Re'Sade.

High-spirited was his life's story, he definitely lived and loved life. He was an avid traveller and a seeker of new experiences. His last international trip was to Trinidad and Tobago for the Carnival Festival. He was so thrilled to be tavelling with his friends to "Trini" as he sometimes called it. He was especially excited to tell everyone about how great the trip to "Trini" was, to show the many pictures he had taken and to suggest that everyone take a trip to Trinidad and Tobago. His last known local trip were to North Andros Crab Festival in June 2008.

For the past six (6) years he was attached to the Criminal Records Office's Latent Print Section, where his skills in latent print analysis were instrumental in the pursuit of justice for many.

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth" (II Timothy 2:15). With this in mind Desmond embarked in a firearms training course, which he pursued with much enthusiasm and energy; sad to say it was his drive for attainment in new law enforcement skills that led to his sudden death in Wednesday, July 16th, 2008. Desmond- a rare emerald in the rough, born to amuse, to inspire, to delight, here one day, gone on night...........gone too soon.

Left to reflect upon the spirit-filled life of Desmond Dion Burrows are his Parents: Tyrone and Linda Burrows, Daughter: Re'Sade Burrows; Brothers: Devon, Tyrone, Valentino and Lithario Burrows; Grand Parents: Rev'd Reuben and Daphne Duncombe; Aunts: Magaret, Velma, Barbara, Sharon Rolle, Sabrina, Kathleen, Lenor, Gwendolyn, Sandra, Marcia, Shaunette, Lovetia, Katheriine, Desirie, Ethelyn Rolle, Elcena, Valda, Derith, Sheila, Betty, Anna, Evelyn, Ethelyn and Esterlyn; Uncles: William, Nimrod, Cleveland, David, James Andrews, Clayton, Dwayne, Juan, Alton, James, Rolle, Phillip, Allison, Glenn, Maurice, Ricardo and Kenneth; 100 cousins: (too numerous to mention); 10 Grand Aunts, 5 Grand Uncles, Special Friend: Vanessa Arthur. Constable 1158 Truman Cooper

On October 21st, 1963 in the small settlement of Forbes Hill Exuma, new joys brought thrill to the Cooper's family with the birth of a joyful and precious gem, the seventh child of the second matrimony and the fourteenth child of the family. He was given the powerful name Truman Oral Cooper, by the eyes of faith that he possessed, some very brave and daring qualities that only could have been administered by God. Truman grew into a handsome young teenager on the island of Exuma, where he received his childhood education at the Forbes Hill, All-Age School and at L.N Coakley Senior High School, in Moss Town Exuma, graduating in 1981.

From a very young age, Truman began developing positive and promising qualities. Upon completion of high school; his first career choice was to become a policeman and serve his country. In 1982 he relocated to Nassau to further his education at The College of The Bahamas, but instead applied to the Police College for admission. While awaiting acceptance into the Police College, he found employment at Smith's and Sons Sea Food. In 1983, he was accepted into the Police College. Upon graduation, P. C. 1158 Truman Oral Cooper was assigned to the Southern Police Station in New Providence. After a year of service there, he was transferred to the Freeport, Grand Bahama Mobile Division and whilst there, he was affectionately called "Ninja" by his colleagues because of his love for the Martial Arts. In 1986, he met a very young and charming lady, Selina Curry whom he later married in 1990. This union produced two precious children: Trushell Dianna and Truman Oral Junior, affectionately called TJ.

During his nine year tenure on the Police Force, Truman displayed his talent in many different areas. In the Police Annual Sports Day 1991, he received high honors and 1st place trophy for "Top Gun Shooting". The same year he won 3rd place in Weight Lifting in the Exuma Regatta. He was also a certified Electronic Technician, and Welder.

Just a week before his tragedy occurred, Truman completed the first phase of an examination to qualify him for promotion of the rank of a Corporal. He was a Certified Diver and a member of the Riot Squad. At the time of his death, Truman was assigned to the Lucayan Station. On July 14th he left home for a normal days work and his last words to Selina were "I'll be back at 1:00pm."

His equilibrium was undisturbed as he courageously set out for special duties, patrolling in the Fortune Beach area of Grand Bahama, accompanied by Police Constable 1843 Rolle. At about 10:45am, after their unexpected encounter with two gunmen, he fell victim to the bullet of a cruel assassin. He was instantly hushed into death from time to eternity in the line of duty. Of all the forces that make for a better world, none is as powerful as hope. In Truman's optimism for Life, I can still hear him say like Martin Luther King: "I have held many things in my hands and have lost them all but whatsoever I have placed in Gods hands that I still possess."

Truman will be missed dearly by his wife, Selina; one daughter, Trushell one son, Truman Jr.; his mother, Pastor Evangelist Louise Cooper of Forbes Hill Exuma and a host of family colleagues and friends. Hide this content.
