Commissioner of Police Reads Proclamation to Prorogue Parliament

The Commissioner of Police, Paul A. Rolle, QPM, Esq, in his capacity as Provost Marshall, read the Proclamation to Prorogue Parliament at 9:30am on 18.8.21 as follows:

"Whereas, by virtues of Article 66(1) of the Constitution the Governor General acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister may at any time by proclamation prorogue Parliament."

Now, therefore, I, Sir Cornelius A. Smith, Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, do hereby prorogue Parliament as from Wednesday the 18th of August 2021. Given under my hand and the public's seal of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas at Government House in the city of Nassau this 18th day of August, 2021 in the year of our Lord 2021 and in the 69th year of Her Majesty's reign."
