On Tuesday July 13th, 2021, Commissioner of Police Mr Paul Rolle traveled to Grand Bahama to launch the Safe Driver Award Program during an Island-Wide Traffic Operation.
At the Operation's morning briefing, Commissioner Rolle thanked ACP Ashton Greenslade, Supt. Henfield (O/C of Traffic) and the officers of Grand Bahama for their effective traffic initiatives. He also noted that the Safe Driver Award Program will serve as a positive reinforcement for members of the motoring public and will promote road safety.
Also present at the launch was Supt. Dr. Chaswell Hanna, Commander of the Western Division of New Providence. Dr. Hanna noted that officers should never underestimate the impact that a positive police-citizen encounter can have on the relationship between the community and the police.
A number of Safe Driver Awards were presented during the Operation.
The awardees were happy to see that the police were not all about 'booking people', but truly cared about their safety on the streets of The Bahamas.
