Operation Safety First


On Tuesday 9th, February 2021 at 7:ooam officers from the Western Division under the leadership of Supt Dr Chaswell A Hanna, assisted by ASP Deno Josey, and in partnership with officers from the Traffic Division under the direction of Inspector Thompson, conducted a road safety operation on Coral Harbour Road.

This road has been known to be one where a number of drivers tend to drive in excess of the speed limit.

The goal of the Operation was to encourage members of the motoring public to drive safer.

Some drivers were cited for offenses related to unsafe driving while others received the *Safe Driver Award*.

A total of *110* citations were issued as followed:

• 84 for driving in excess of the speed limit
  
  
• 6 for driving while not covered with a minimum of third party insurance
  
  
• 6for driving a motor vehicle without wearing a seatbelt
  
  
• 1 for failing to stop when requested by police
  
  
• 4 for driving with windows not of transparent view/glass
  
  
• 1 for the use of an electronic device while operating a motor vehicle
  
  
• 2 for over taking without proper signaling
  
  
• 4 for driving without a drivers license
  
  
• 2 for driving with no front plate affixed
  
  
• 6 persons were presented with the Safe Driver Award
