On Sunday 3rd November, 2024 in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Women in the Royal Bahamas Police Force a team of female officers including Senior & Contracted Officers, Police Recruits, Reserves and Cadets under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Janet Mckenzie worshipped in unity at Bahamas Harvest Church. Also in attendance was retired and first female Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismella Davis-Delancy and retired & the first female Assistant Commissioner of Police Juanita Colebrooke. In addition there were women present from various armed forces such as the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Bahamas Customs, Airport Authority, Immigration, and The Bahamas Department of Corrections.
ACP. Janet McKenzie gave the history of the first six women to enter the Royal Bahamas Police Force and spoke on their strength, perseverance, and how they protected and served The Bahamas despite what may have been going on behind the scenes. She spoke with gratitude on how they were pioneers for other women like herself to be able to enjoy a career in policing. Because of the path set by these individuals there are constant positive changes for women in policing.
Pastor Mario Moxey brought the sermon titled “Keep Soaring” where He charged those in attendance put God first in all endevours and surrounded by people, things, and an conducive environment that will never prohibit you to “Keep Soaring.
A donation was given to Bahamas Harvest on behalf of the Royal Bahamas Police Force women association.
