POLICE QUESTION TWO SUSPECTS IN LATEST ARMED ROBBERY

Two (2) males, both age 19 years, are being questioned in connection with an alleged armed robbery that occurred on West Bay Street.

According to initial reports, shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday 03rd April, 2024, two males were sitting on Western Esplanade Beach when they were confronted by three (3) unknown males, one of whom brandished a firearm, and robbed the victims of their I phones.

It is reported that the suspects attempted to steal the victims vehicle; however, due to their inability to operate the vehicle, they abandoned it and fled the area on foot.

Acting on information, officers arrested two (2) males on Chippingham Road and are actively in search of the third (3rd) suspect involved in this incident. Investigations continue.

MARIJUANA PLANTS CONFISCATED BY POLICE

Police seized a large quantity of suspected marijuana plants on Tuesday 02nd April, 2024, in the Gambier Village community.

According to reports, officers from Cable Beach Police Division, acting on information, arrived on Fernander Drive, where they conducted a search of a bushy area and discovered forty (40) suspected marijuana plants. No arrests were made in connection with this incident.

The Drug Enforcement Unit will continue investigations into this incident.

OPERATION “ISLAND PRIDE” YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS

A collaborative effort between the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Royal Bahamas Defense Force, and the Bahamas Customs Department resulted in the successful execution of a joint operation titled "Island Pride."

A total of fourteen (14) motorcycles that were unlawfully imported into the country were seized by Customs Department personnel during the operation which occurred on Potter's Cay Dock on Monday April, 01st, 2024, between 8:45 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Additionally, eight (8) traffic citations were issued by police officers to individuals found in violation.

The public is encouraged to abide by all laws governing the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, as failure to do so, will result in person’s being placed before the Magistrate’s Court.
