NEW PROVIDENCE
OPERATION CEASEFIRE: FIREARM AND DANGEROUS DRUGS SEIZED
On Saturday 16th March, 2024, officers from Operation Ceasefire including the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force seized a firearm and suspected dangerous drugs in two (2) separate incidents.
The first incident took place on Wilson Track off Cordeaux Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
According to initial reports, a team of officers, acting on information, conducted an off-road search, resulting in the discovery of an unloaded firearm concealed within a trash bin. No arrest was made in connection with this incident.
The second incident occurred around 4:15 p.m., at a residence on Faith United Way off Baillou Hill Road.
Preliminary reports confirmed that officers while executing a search warrant, discovered and confiscated a quantity of ammunition, a large sum of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime, and a large quantity of suspected marijuana (Hydroponic). This led to the arrest of the two (2) occupants, a 52-year-old Jamaican male and a 46-year-old Jamaican female.
The suspected Hydroponic Marijuana weighed an estimated 49.3 pounds with an estimated street value $98,000.00.
Investigations are ongoing.
