NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are actively investigating an armed robbery incident that took place shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday 13th March, 2024, in the area of Sunshine Park.

Preliminary reports indicate that both victims were seated in a parked vehicle, a 2022 silver Honda CR-V LP#AJ4505, in front of a residence on Curacao Street when they were confronted by two (2) masked males dressed in dark clothing, one of whom was allegedly armed with a firearm. The culprits robbed both victims of cash and the owner of his vehicle before fleeing west, making good on their escape.

If this vehicle is seen, members of the public are asked to contact police at 919/911, the Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2/3, Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS or visit the nearest Police Station.

THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER FIREARM CONFISCATION

Three adults, a male and two females, have been arrested by the police following the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at their residence on Wednesday 13th March, 2024.

According to initial reports, shortly before 8:00 a.m., officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by the K-9 Unit, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at the Dumping Ground Corner residence. The search led to the discovery of a .45 pistol with ammunition, resulting in the arrest of the three occupants—a 24-year-old male and two females aged 20 and 51.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will conduct further investigations into this matter.

MEDIA COVERAGE

The Royal Bahamas Police Traffic Division, in collaboration with the Road Traffic Department, will brief the Government Senior High School graduating class of 2024 at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday 14th March, 2024, on the process of obtaining their learner's permit and driver's license, as well as the importance of obtaining both and the penalties for driving without them.

This proactive initiative aims to educate the upcoming generation of drivers and foster a culture of informed and responsible driving starting from school.
