NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE SEIZED FOUR (4) FIREARMS IN THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS
A team of officers from Operation Ceasefire and Black Strike, comprising of Police and Defense Force officers, seized four (4) firearms and arrested two (2) adult males in three (3) separate incidents.
In the first instance, a 21-year-old male was taken into police custody after he was found in possession of an illegal firearm on Saturday 02nd March, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 1:00 p.m., officers acting on information, proceeded to the area of John Road off Hospital Lane where they encountered a male operating a four-wheeler ATV. It is reported that the male upon seeing the officers, quickly withdrew a handgun from his waist and discarded it. Officers retrieved the weapon and apprehended the suspect who was also found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana.
In the second instance, around 8:20 p.m., officers acting on information went to a wooden structure, again on John Road and Hospital Lane where they conducted a search and confiscated two (2) loaded firearms. No arrests were made in relation to this incident.
In the final instance, around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday 03rd March, 2024, officers conducted a search of a home on Palmetto Road off Sunset Road where they discovered a firearm and subsequently, arrested a 51-year-old male occupant.
The Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force Unit will continue investigations into these matters.
