NEW PROVIDENCE
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY INTO DOUBLE HOMICIDE
Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Monday 26th February, 2024, resulting in the death of two (2) juvenile males off Carmichael Road.
According to reports, the incident took place at a residence on Faith Avenue North shortly after 6:00 p.m. The victims, both teenagers, were in the backyard when two (2) unknown males entered the property and opened fire in their direction before they fled the area in an unknown direction.
The first victim, aged 16, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He tried to seek refuge inside the residence, where he later collapsed and succumbed to his injuries.
The second victim, aged 17, also sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He also attempted to find refuge but collapsed in an unfinished structure nearby, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have any additional information that can help solve this matter to contact 919/911, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).
VICTIM STABBED AFTER ARMED ROBBERY
Police are searching for three (3) males that are allegedly responsible for a violent armed robbery that took place on Monday 26th February, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that after 8:00 p.m., the victim while in the area of a park on Baillou Hill Road and Coconut Grove Avenue was approached an robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by three (3) unknown males who were armed with knives. It is reported that during the incident the victim was stabbed to the back.
He was transported to the hospital via ambulance, where at present his condition is unknown.
The Criminal Investigation Department will continue investigations into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING
Police in Abaco are investigating an alleged drowning of a male American tourist that occurred on Tuesday 27th February, 2024.
Police were notified after 1:00 a.m., that the 68-year-old resident from Mississippi, U.S.A. had fallen from a vessel near Tilloo Cay.
Police, along with a search and rescue team, arrived at the scene, where they observed the victim and spoke with a relative who was aboard the vessel. It is reported that the victim was standing on the edge of the vessel when he accidentally fell into the water. Two (2) passengers immediately entered the vessel’s dingy in an attempt to rescue him.
The victim was retrieved from the water, in an unresponsive state and administered CPR until his arrival to the local clinic, where he was examined by the local medical doctor who confirmed no vital signs of life. Investigations continue into this matter.

On Wednesday 28th February, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Domestic Violence Task Force Unit is hosting a “Men’s Seminar” at the Paul Farquharson Center located in Police Headquarters. This initiative aims to offer training and education on identifying domestic violence and assisting those experiencing abuse.
Media coverage of the event would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, media representatives attending are asked to arrive at the Paul Farquharson Center by 9:45 a.m.
