NEW PROVIDENCE

5 WEAPONS AND 194 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION SEIZED BY POLICE

Three (3) handguns, two (2) shotguns, and one hundred ninety-four (194) rounds of ammunition were confiscated as a result of the Royal Bahamas Police Force's zero-tolerance stance regarding the removal of weapons from the streets.

The Anti-Gang and Firearm Investigation Task Force has formally charged six (6) adults, five (5) males and one (1) female, who were apprehended by officers of the Abaco Division, Western Division, Tourism Police Division, and Operation Black Strike, in connection with the firearms and ammunition seized between February 19th and February 24th, 2024. 13 ADULT MALES ARRESTED BY THE ELECTRONIC MONITORING UNIT

Officers from the Electronic Monitoring Unit assisted in the arrest of thirteen (13) adult males, ranging in age from 18 to 40 for serious offences including Murder, Armed Robbery, Stealing, Organized Crime, and Breach of Bail between February 19th and February 24th, 2024.

During this period, two adult males were placed before the Magistrate’s Court for breaching their bail conditions.

60 CITATIONS ISSUED TO MOTORING PUBLIC DURING ROAD CHECKS

On Sunday 25th February, 2024, officers from the Traffic Division increased their presence and carried out operations around Bay Street and the surrounding areas. As a result of standard vehicle stop and search, sixty (60) citations were issued to drivers for various traffic infractions.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force remains committed to the ongoing efforts of crime reduction and creating safer communities.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vehicle that was reported stolen on Sunday 25th February, 2024:

  1. A 2013 Nissan March L/P # DA8125 – stolen from Hawthorne Road Please contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, 911, 919, or the nearest police station if you spot this vehicle or have any information regarding this theft.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

BIMINI: POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM

Police in Bimini confiscated a loaded weapon off Kings Highway on Sunday 25th February, 2024, shortly after 6:00 p.m.

According to initial reports, officers, acting on information, arrived at the rear of a business establishment and conducted a search of a bushy area. During the search, they discovered a firearm containing ammunition.

No arrest was made in connection with this incident. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

NEW PROVIDENCE

Police would like to inform the public that on Monday 26th February, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the Criminal Investigation Department will present a 23-year-old male from Imperial Park before the Magistrate’s Court charged with the following offences:

  • (4) Counts of Attempted Murder
  • (4) Counts of Possession of a Firearm to Endanger Life
  • (2) Counts of Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm
  • (2) Counts of Possession of Ammunition

    This is in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday 18th February, 2024 in the area of Exuma Street.

    POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM: SUSPECT ARRESTED

    Officers from Operation Cease Fire on Monday 26th February, 2024, successfully seized a firearm and a quantity of ammunition leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old male.

    According to initial reports, shortly before 4:00 a.m., officers acting on information went into the area of Nassau Street, where they observed a male acting suspiciously, fitting the description of a male who was in possession of a firearm. A search was performed on this male, and officers discovered a handgun that contained a quantity of ammunition, resulting in his arrest.

    The Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force will investigate this incident further.

    THREE ARRESTED IN LATEST HOMICIDE

    Police in Eleuthera have arrested three (3) adult males in connection with a deadly shooting incident that occurred on Monday 26th February, 2024 claiming the life of an adult male.

    According to preliminary reports, around 12:30 a.m., the male victim was found inside a local nightclub situated on Harbour Island, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was examined by the local medical doctor on the scene; however, he showed no vital signs of life and was pronounced deceased.

    Subsequently, a 29-year-old male voluntarily surrendered to the Harbor Island Police Station, where he was taken into custody.

    Following significant leads, officers later arrested two (2) additional adult males, aged 38 and 42.

    This incident is under active investigation.
