NEW PROVIDENCE
ARRAIGNMENT
Police would like to inform the public that on Monday 19th February,2024, at 10:00 a.m., the Criminal Investigation Department will present a 24-year-old male who has been formally charged with the offence of Murder before the Magistrate’s Court. In addition, the Anti-Gang and Firearm Investigation Task Force will present two males, ages 35 and 30, from Dignity Gardens and Nassau Village, respectively, before the Magistrate Court; they have been formally charged with firearm- related offences.
The 24-year-old male is accused of the fatal shooting incident that occurred on Monday 05th February,2024, in the area of Providence Avenue, Chippingham, which claimed the life of 31-year- old Giovanni Joseph. Secondly, the 35-year-old:
- Importation of a Firearm into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- (3) Counts Importation of Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- Conspiracy to Import Firearms into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- (3) Counts Conspiracy to Import Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
This is in connection with firearms and a large quantity of ammunition and marijuana confiscated by police on Friday 26th January, 2024, on the island of Eleuthera which resulted in the accused's arrest. Thirdly, the 30-year-old:
- (4) Counts of Importation of a Firearm into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- (3) Counts Importation of Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- Conspiracy to Import Firearms into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- Conspiracy to Import Ammunition into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
- Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Supply
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Possession of Ammunition
This is in connection with firearms confiscated by police on Tuesday 13th February, 2024, which led to the arrest of the accused in Southern New Providence
OFF DUTY OFFICER, HIS MOTHER, & FOUR OTHERS ARRESTED
Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday 18th February,2024, resulting in the confiscation of a loaded firearm, ammunition, and the arrest of six (6) individuals.
According to reports around 8:00 p.m., police were alerted via its Shot Spotter Technology of gunshots being discharged in the vicinity Exuma Street and Cordeaux Avenue. Further details indicated that the occupants of a white Honda Accord were responsible.
Police and Defence Force officers attached to Operation Ceasefire while on routine Saturation Patrol observed a vehicle fitting the description leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off which resulted in the officers pursuing the vehicle into the area of Bahamas Games Boulevard. It is reported that while in the area, three (3) male occupants opened fired on the officers, resulting in an exchange of gunshots and the suspects’ vehicle crashing near the baseball stadium.
Two (2) of the males were able to evade the officers initially; however, officers acting on information were able to arrest one of the suspects, who received severe lacerations after attempting to scale the wall of a nearby secondary school. He was identified as an off-duty police officer and was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and discharged; however, he remains in police custody.
A search of the suspects’ vehicle revealed a loaded firearm along with a quantity of ammunition, which was seized by officers.
A check of the area, where gunshots were initially heard on Exuma Street and Cordeaux Avenue revealed that a 23-year-old male was shot, to the upper body, while walking on Cordeaux Avenue by the occupants of a white Honda Accord. The victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle for medical treatment where at present his condition is stable.
Subsequently, police arrested three (3) males, aged 26, 26, and 22, along with a 22-year-old female.
In addition, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Imperial Park where a quantity of ammunition was discovered and confiscated. This led to the arrest of the off duty police officer’s mother, a 41-year-old female.
Investigations are ongoing into this matter.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force is dedicated to continuously working towards reducing crime and fostering safer communities. Any person, regardless of their status, title, or position, who violates the laws governing the Commonwealth will face prosecution.
FOUND DRUGS
A large quantity of suspected marijuana worth an estimated $9,600.00 was seized by police on Sunday 18th February,2024, in the Fox Hill community around 2:15 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that the officers, acting on information with the assistance of a K-9 Unit, discovered the dangerous drugs on a vacant lot on Badger Lane.
The suspected marijuana weighed 9.6 pounds. Investigations are ongoing by the Drug Enforcement Unit.

MALE SUSPECTED OF ARMED ROBBERY WANTED BY POLICE
Police are appealing to the public for help in locating
24-year-old Billy Cejour, of #3 Faith Avenue, who is wanted for armed robbery.
