NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

An investigation has been launched into an armed robbery that occurred in the Imperial Park community on Saturday 17th February,2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 10:00 p.m., the victim was driving her white 2011 Nissan Cube when a red Japanese vehicle blocked her path by pulling in front of her. It is reported that two (2) unknown males both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns exited the vehicle, approached the victim,and robbed her of her vehicle. Both culprits entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene heading east, along Silver Palm Boulevard followed by the red vehicle.

Individuals with any information about this incident are encouraged to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991. Additionally, anonymous tips are also welcome through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

ABACO: POLICE SEEK STOLEN VEHICLE

Police in Abaco seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicle that was reported stolen on Saturday 17th February,2024: 1. A black 2010 Honda Fit L/P #SN4035

NEW PROVIDENCE

FEMALE INDECENTLY EXPOSED ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Police wish to inform the public that they are aware of a video circulating on social media of an unclothed female behaving erratically in the Garden Hills area.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Saturday 17th February, 2024 and involved a 46-year-old female who is known to have a mental disorder. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel accompanied by family members, where she is receiving medical assistance.

The police wish to remind members of the public that mental illness exists in our society, and when persons are observed exhibiting unstable behavior involving the exposure of private body parts, it should not be exploited. Thus, persons found intentionally publishing and disseminating information about vulnerable individuals in such a state will be prosecuted.

Members of the public who are aware of persons who have mental illness are asked to contact the Community Counseling & Assessment Centre on Collins Avenue @ 323-3293/5 or the National Hotline @ 422-2763 or 322-2763. Persons needing urgent care can be taken to the Princess Margret Hospital, where a psychiatrist is always available.

ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED IN HIGH-SPEED CHASE

A police pursuit in the early hours of Sunday 18th February,2024, resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm, the recovery of a stolen vehicle, and the arrest of a 44-year-old male in the Montel Heights community.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 5:00 a.m., officers observed a white Chevy Traverse traveling at a high rate of speed, south along Montrose Avenue which they suspected was stolen, during an armed robbery that occurred in the vicinity of Sears Hill.The officers pursued the vehicle, which was driven by a male into the Montell Heights area, where he abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was pursued, and observed throwing an object near a school, prior to being caught. A search of the area, revealed a firearm containing ammunition. Investigations are ongoing into this incident.

MEDIA COVERAGE REQUESTED

On Monday 19th February,2024 beginning at 10:00 a.m. the Englerston Urban Renewal Centre will be conducting an initiative involving the removal of derelict vehicles within the Englerston community.

The following Ministers are expected to be in attendance: Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, Hon. Keith Belle and the Hon.Vaughn Miller.

Media coverage is being requested for this initiative. Additionally, media personnel attending the event is asked to meet on Podoleo Street, between Robinson Road and Balfour Avenue no later than 9:30 a.m.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS: GRAND BAHAMA

POLICE INVESTIGATE TRAFFIC FATALITY

Police on the island of Grand Bahama are investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic accident that has claimed the life of a 27-year-old female from Caravel Beach, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around midnight on Friday 02nd February,2024 officers attached to the Traffic Division received a report of a traffic accident on East Sunrise Highway involving a grey Chevy HHR.

It is reported that the female was traveling west on East Sunrise Highway in the area of the Lucayan roundabout when she lost control of the vehicle and collided into a tree.

She sustained serious injuries from the accident and was transported to the hospital by EMS personnel. She was later airlifted to New Providence to seek further medical attention; however, on Friday 16th February 2024 she succumbed to her injuries while in hospital. Investigations into this matter continue.
