NEW PROVIDENCE

ARRAIGNMENT

Police wish to inform the public that on Wednesday 14th February, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the Criminal Investigation Department will present a 26-year-old male who has been formally charged with the offence of Murder before the Magistrate’s Court.

This is in connection with the fatal shooting incident that occurred on Saturday 06th January, 2024, in the Nassau Village area, which claimed the life of a 16-year-old female.

POLICE CONFISCATE TWO FIREARMS

In separate incidents on Tuesday 13th February, 2024, police and officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force seized two (2) firearms.

In the first incident, officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearm Task Force, acting on information, arrived on Spruce Street around 1:00 p.m., and conducted a search of an abandoned building, leading to the discovery and confiscation of a high-powered weapon containing ammunition.

In the second incident, around 9:00 p.m., officers from the Southwestern Division, acting on information, went to the area of Montgomery Avenue, where they searched a bushy area, resulting in the discovery and seizure of an unloaded firearm.

No arrests were made in connection with these incidents. The Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force will continue investigations into both of these matters.
