NEW PROVIDENCE

ADULT MALE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY REFERENCE TO STOLEN VEHICLE

On Friday, February 28th, 2025, police recovered a Silver Nissan Note that was recently reported stolen after a brief chase ended in the Seven Hills Estates Community.

Preliminary reports revealed that sometime around noon, a Police Motorcyclist observed the vehicle being driven without any license plates attached. The officer beckoned to the driver to stop several times, but he refused, resulting in a chase. Eventually, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall. Consequently, the 18-year-old male driver was successfully arrested and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm component(magazine). Investigation continues.

TWO (2) MALES ARRESTED REFERENCE TO POSSESSION OF TWO (2) FIREARMS

Officers in the capital have taken two (2) adult males ages 34 and 23 into custody after discovering two (2) firearms in their possession.

Preliminary reports revealed that on Saturday, 1st March 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., acting on information, Mobile Division Officers went to the area of Mason’s Addition. While there, they stopped a black Honda vehicle and ordered both male occupants out of the vehicle. Further, the vehicle and the males were searched and officers were able to confiscate two (2) firearms found in their possession.

The two men were taken into police custody and are assisting with the investigation.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a female body and a vehicle found floating in the waters in Eastern New Providence.

Preliminary reports revealed that on Saturday, 1st March 2025, sometime around 6:30 a.m., police were informed of this incident and as a result officers were dispatched to investigate. Once on scene, officers retrieved the female body from the waters. Furthermore, Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and examined the body but found no vital signs of life. An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigation continues.

TWO (2) MEN ARRESTED REFERENCE TO DANGEROUS DRUGS

Police on the island of Andros have arrested two (2) men, ages 55 and 22, following the execution of a search warrant in Lowe Sound, North Andros, where a quantity of suspected Marijuana was discovered.

Preliminary reports reveal that, on Friday, 28th February 2025, sometime around 9:30 p.m., officers, while armed with a search warrant, conducted a search of a single-story building where they successfully seized a quantity of suspected Marijuana along with a quantity of cash. The two (2) male occupants, a Bahamian and a Jamaican, were taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation. The suspected dangerous drugs weight seven (7) pounds and the street value is estimated to be Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000). Investigation continues.
