NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE SUSPICIOUS DEATH

An investigation is underway into the suspicious death of a 41-year-old man that occurred on Wednesday, 19th February 2025, before 5:00 p.m. at a vacant lot on Cox Street in Fox Hill.

Responding officers arrived at the scene and observed the male on the ground near two fallen trees, with visible head injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the man was using a chainsaw to cut trees when both trees fell, resulting in his injuries. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene and after examining him found no vital signs of life. Investigation continues.

ARMED ROBBERY AND ROBBERY INVESTIGATIONS UNDERWAY

On Wednesday, 19th February 2025, police launched an investigation into two separate alleged robbery incidents.

The first incident occurred before 2:00 p.m. on Carew Street, off Mount Royal Avenue. According to preliminary reports, an unknown male, armed with a sharp object, attacked an individual and stole a sum of cash before fleeing the scene.

The second incident took place outside a business on Robinson Road around 9:00 p.m. Initial reports suggest that two unknown males confronted an individual seated in a maroon Toyota Passo and stole the vehicle. Responding officers later recovered the abandoned car in a bushy area off Robinson Road.

JOINT EFFORT YIELDS FIREARM AND AMMUNITION SEIZURE

On Wednesday, 19th February, 2025, law enforcement officers confiscated ammunition and a firearm in two separate incidents, one of which resulted in an arrest.

The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Dead End Way, involving officers from Operation Black Scorpion and the Police Canine Support Unit. According to preliminary reports, a police canine led officers to a quantity of ammunition and suspected marijuana beneath a derelict vehicle. No arrests were made.

The second incident occurred at a residence on Stack Avenue in Nassau Village around 11:50 p.m. Initial reports indicate that the team of officers carried out a search warrant and confiscated a firearm containing ammunition. As a result, the 53-year-old male occupant was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.

Operation Black Scorpion is a collaborative effort involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.

SUICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police are investigating the alleged suicide of a 39-year-old male at a residence on Fritz Lane, off East Street, on Thursday, 20th February, 2025.

Officers responded to the scene after 10:30 a.m., where a male was found unresponsive with an object around his neck. Emergency Medical Services visited the scene but found no vital signs of life. The matter remains under active investigation.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: JOINT OPERATION LEADS TO FIREARM ARREST

On Wednesday, 19th February 2025, police in Grand Bahama conducted a joint operation with the Bahamas Customs Department that led to an arrest and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition.

Initial reports indicate that officers executed a search warrant at a home on Fleming Road after 2:30p.m. During the search, they discovered a quantity of ammunition inside a vehicle, resulting in the arrest of a 22-year-old man. Later, around 4:30 p.m., officers executed a second search warrant at a home on Egret Circle in the presence of the suspect, where they found a loaded firearm. The suspect was further cautioned as the investigation continues.
