NEW PROVIDENCE

SEARCH WARRANT RESULTED IN FIREARM-RELATED ARRESTS

On Saturday, 25th January 2025, law enforcement officers took three (3) men into custody following the confiscation of a firearm component and ammunition.

Initial reports indicate that a joint team of police and Royal Bahamas Defense Force officers executed a search warrant around 5:00 p.m. at a residence on Asphalt Road, Flamingo Gardens. During the search, officers discovered a component of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition, leading to the arrest of three (3) male occupants, ages 27, 25, and 21. Investigation continues.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the mentioned vehicle below that was reported stolen on Saturday, 25th January 2025:

  1. A white 2008 Honda Fit L/P #AZ0430 – stolen from West Bay Street.

POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING

Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, 26th January, 2025.

Shortly before 10:20 a.m., ShotSpotter Technology detected gunfire in the Kemp Road area. Responding officers arrived on Cooper Terrace, where they discovered a male unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was outside when a silver vehicle approached, and its occupants exited and opened fire in the direction of the victim. The culprits left the scene headed west.

Emergency Medical Services attended the scene but found no vital signs of life from the victim.

TWO MEN ARRESTED IN DRUG BUST

Officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force seized a large quantity of dangerous drugs and arrested two (2) men on Sunday, 26th January, 2025.

According to initial reports, officers acted on information and executed a search warrant around 4:30 a.m. at a residence on North Street, Masons Addition. During the search, they discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana, resulting in the arrests of the two (2) male occupants, both 26 years old.

The suspected drugs have an estimated weight of 55 pounds and a street value of approximately $55,000.00.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit is a joint effort involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Bahamas Customs, and the Department of Immigration.

POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE

On Sunday, 26th January, 2025, a shooting incident occurred on Finlayson Street, Bain Town, that claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman.

Preliminary reports indicate that after 3:00 p.m., two men exited a silver jeep and opened fire on several individuals gathered in the area. The victim was seated in a car when she was shot. The suspects fled south in the vehicle along Finlayson Street.

The victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Investigation continues.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ACKLINS: OFFICERS RECOVERED FIREARM, FIVE IN CUSTODY

Police in Acklins arrested five (5) individuals after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26th January, 2025, following the discovery of a loaded firearm.

Preliminary reports revealed that officers while acting on information, executed a search warrant at a home in Lovely Bay. During the search, a firearm containing ammunition was discovered and confiscated, leading to the arrests of the five occupants: two men, aged 25, and 21, and three women, aged 22, 20, and 18.
