NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTIN
An investigation is underway into the fatal shooting of an adult male that occurred on Friday, 24th January 2025, after 10:00 p.m.
ShotSpotter Technology alerted officers of multiple gunshots in the Cowpen Road area near Brian’s Way. Upon arrival at a business establishment, officers discovered a male unresponsive in the parking lot with gunshot injuries to the body. Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle arrived at the location, and an unknown male exited the vehicle and attempted to gain access to the business establishment. The suspect was unsuccessful in accessing the business, after which he returned to the vehicle, retrieved a firearm and opened fire in the direction of the victim who was standing nearby. The culprit then returned to the vehicle and left the scene.
Emergency Medical Services responded, and upon examining the victim, they discovered no vital signs of life. Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING
An investigation is underway into an alleged drowning of a male infant that took place at home on Curtis Road, Gambier Village, on Saturday, 25th January, 2025.
Police were alerted to the incident after 11:00 a.m. According to preliminary reports, the child was discovered unresponsive in a bucket of water sometime after 10:00 a.m. Despite attempts at CPR, he remained unresponsive and was transported to the hospital, where resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead. Investigations are ongoing.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS
GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY INCIDENT
Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a robbery that occurred in Pinedale on Friday, January 24th, 2025.
Initial reports indicate that shortly before 5:00 a.m., the victim exited a home and was accosted by two masked males. The suspects robbed him of a large sum of cash before fleeing the scene on foot. Investigation continues.
