NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENTS
Police are investigating two (2) separate stabbing incidents that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 1st January 2025.
The first incident occurred just after midnight at Arawak Cay, off West Bay Street. Preliminary reports indicate that a 17-year-old male was attacked and stabbed in the upper body by an unknown male. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The condition of the victim is not known at this time.
The second incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. off Bethel Avenue in Millennium Gardens. Initial reports indicate that a 30-year-old male sustained stab wounds to his body by an unknown male. He was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, and his condition is also unknown at this time.
Investigations are ongoing into both matters.
STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT
Police seek the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles that were reported stolen between 31st December 2024 and 1st January, 2025:
- 1. A gray 2012 Nissan Tiida L/P #AR8348 – stolen from Hunt Close.
- 2. A burgundy 2012 Nissan Cube L/P #AX0115 – stolen from East Bay Street.

POLICE INVESTIGATE TRAFFIC FATALITY
Police are investigating a traffic accident that claimed the life of an adult male motorist on Wednesday 1st, January 2025.
The accident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. on University Boulevard. It involved two (2) vehicles: a black Toyota Passo, occupied by a male and female, and a blue Honda Fit driven by a Dominican male national. Initial reports indicate that the Toyota Passo was travelling east while the Honda Fit was heading west when the vehicles collided.
Both occupants of the Toyota Passo sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital by ambulance, where they remain in serious condition. The driver of the Honda also suffered severe injuries but succumbed to his injuries in the ambulance while enroute to the hospital.
Investigation continues into this matter.
UPDATE: REFERENCE TO VICTIMS STABBED
Police wish to provide an update on the conditions of the victims who were stabbed in two (2) separate incidents earlier on Wednesday, 1st January 2025.
In the first incident at Arawak Cay, off West Bay Street, the 17-year-old male who sustained stabbed wounds to the upper body has received medical treatment and is in stable condition.
Similarly, the 30-year-old male victim in the second incident off Bethel Avenue in Millennium Gardens has also been treated and is in stable condition.
Investigation continues.
POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO BOATING INCIDENTS
Police are investigating two (2) boating incidents that occurred on Wednesday, 1st January, 2025, one of which resulted in injuries to a Canadian tourist.
The first incident occurred near Arawak Cay, off West Bay Street, before 1:00 p.m. According to reports, a 34-year-old man was snorkeling when a white boat, carrying three (3) males, struck him and fled the scene.
The victim suffered serious injuries to his upper and lower limbs and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, where he is receiving medical care.
The second incident occurred at a wharf off Bay Street. Preliminary reports indicate that a vessel capsized which resulted in the passengers and crew members falling into the water. No injuries were reported.
FAMILY ISLANDS
ELEUTHERA: MAN ARRESTED REFERENCE TO DANGEROUS DRUGS
On Wednesday, 31st December, 2024, police in Eleuthera seized a quantity of suspected dangerous drugs and arrested an adult male aged 38 while conducting a special operation in Central Eleuthera.
Initial reports indicate that sometime around 3:00 p.m., officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of the suspect, who was observed walking in a bushy area near a beach. A quantity of suspected marijuana was found in his possession, resulting in his arrest.
The estimated weight and street value of the quantity of suspected marijuana is not known at this time. Investigation continue.
