NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING

A 43-year-old female was shot and arrested after she attempted to knock down police officers in the area of Independence Highway and Baillou Hill Road on Monday 05th February, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers, were alerted that a blue Volvo that was reportedly stolen was seen traveling west along Marathon Road onto Independence Highway.

Officers responded and once in the area of Baillou Hill Road, the driver came to a stop. It is reported that as the officers exited their vehicle, the driver accelerated the vehicle in the direction of the officers, which resulted in the driver being shot by police.

The driver continued, in an attempt to evade police, however, police were able intercept the vehicle in the area of Baillou Hill and Soldier Roads, where she was taken into custody.

At present the suspect is at hospital seeking medical assistance. Investigations continue into this matter.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ANDROS: POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEDGED DROWNING

Police in Andros are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning of an adult male which occurred in waters off Andros.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Sunday 04th February, 2024, police were alerted that the victim went missing while onboard a fishing vessel.

It is reported that around 2:00 a.m., on the same date, the victim was seen in a dingy attached to the vessel and several hours later he was found unresponsive, submerged in the water.

The victim was retrieved from the water and taken to the local clinic where he was pronounced dead. Investigations are on going in this matter.

NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE OF AN ADULT MALE

Police are investigating a shooting incident that claimed the life of a 31-year-old male on Monday 05th February, 2024.

The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. at a residence on Providence Avenue, in Chippingham.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was outside a home when he was shot multiple times to the body. EMS personnel arrived on the scene, examined the victim but were unable to detect any vital signs of life.

Additionally, the officers recovered a stolen vehicle from the scene.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: SHOOTING INCIDENT UPDATED TO MURDER

On Sunday 04th February, 2024, sometime around 9:45 p.m., a 61-year-old male victim succumbed to injuries sustained from a shooting incident in Grand Bahama.

Police in Grand Bahama had been investigating the incident, which occurred on Tuesday 23rd January, 2024, around 7:00 p.m. According to reports, the victim was at a residence on Oleander Street when he got into a physical altercation with a 38-year-old male. The situation escalated, leading to the male producing a firearm and shooting the victim. 2

An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital, where he remained in serious but stable condition until his passing.

Police are actively searching for the whereabouts of the primary suspect in this matter,

Charles Fritzgerald, a 38-year-old resident of #142 Limewood Lane. Anyone with information that could advance this investigation is urged to contact 911, 919, Grand Bahama’s Criminal Investigation Department, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477).
