NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE SEARCH YIELDS HIGH-POWERED WEAPONS

In the early hours of Saturday 09th November, 2024, police seized two (2) high-powered weapons off Shirley Street.

Initial reports indicate that officers, acting on information, conducted a search of an abandoned building on Lyon Road around 1:00 a.m. During the search, they found and seized the weapons, both of which contained no ammunition. There were no arrest made, investigation continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

A 52-year-old man has been hospitalized on Saturday 09th November, 2024, after an alleged suicide attempt at a home in Nassau Village.

Preliminary reports indicate that before 2:00 a.m., the victim allegedly ingested a chemical liquid and alcohol while at a residence on Forbes Street.

He was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further medical care and evaluation. Investigation continues.

ADVISORY: ROAD CLOSURE FOR NATIONAL REMEMBERANCE DAY

The Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to advise the General Public that the National Remembrance Day service will take place on Sunday 10th November, 2024, commencing at 11:00 a.m. The service will begin at Christ Church Cathedral on George Street and conclude at the Garden of Remembrance on Parliament Street.

ROAD CLOSURE:

To facilitate the event, the Traffic Division wishes to advise the General Public that from 10:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the service at Christ Church Cathedral, the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • DUKE STREET, BETWEEN CUMBERLAND STREET AND MARKET STREET
  • PRINCESS STREET, BETWEEN FREDERICK STREET AND MARKET STREET
  • SHIRLEY STREET, BETWEEN FREDERICK STREET AND EAST STREET
  • PARLIAMENT STREET, BETWEEN EAST HILL STREET AND BAY STREET
  • BANK LANE, BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET TO BAY STREET
  • EAST STREET, BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET TO BAY STREET
NO PARKING:

Starting from 7:00 a.m. on Sunday 10th November, 2024, and until the conclusion of the service, NO VEHICLES will be permitted to park on the following streets:

  • GEORGE STREET, BETWEEN BAY STREET AND DUKE STREET-BOTH SIDES
  • PARLIAMENT STREET, BETWEEN EAST HILL STREET AND WOODES RODGERS WHARF- BOTH SIDES
  • BANK LANE, BETWEEN SHIRLEY STREET AND BAY STREET - BOTH SIDES
