POLICE INVESTIGATE TRIPLE SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday 31st January, 2024, leaving two adults injured and one female dead.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were socializing while standing outside adjacent to a bar on Ragged Island Street when the occupants of a blue Japanese vehicle approached and opened fire towards the group, resulting in a male and two females being shot.

A 39-year-old female who sustained multiple gunshot wounds succumbed to her injuries on scene.

Emergency medical services transported the second victim, a 40-year-old female, to the hospital after she sustained a gunshot wound to her right leg. The third victim, a 36-year-old male, was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle after he sustained a gunshot wound to his left forearm.

Both victims are currently receiving medical attention, and they are in stable condition.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have any information as it pertains to this incident to contact 919/911, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2/3, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SERIOUS TRAFFIC MISHAP

Police are investigating a traffic accident involving a police officer that occurred on Sir Milo Butler Highway shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday 31st January, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, the officer was engaged in a traffic stop when he was struck by another passing vehicle, which resulted in him being seriously injured on impact.

Emergency medical technicians responded and transported the injured officer to the hospital for urgent care, where, at this present time, his condition is critical.

The Serious Accident Reconstruction Team (SART) from the Traffic Division is conducting investigations into this incident.

OPERATION YIELDS RESULTS

The Traffic Division in its relentless effort to ensure traffic safety launched operation “LEFT is RIGHT, Stay in Your Own Lane”.

On Wednesday 31st January, 2024, the operation targeted motorists that failed to adhere to the traffic laws and regulations, which resulted in the following: one hundred (100) traffic citations were issued, and a 38-year-old female was arrested for deceit of a public officer.

The public is encouraged to abide by all laws governing the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, as failure to do so, will result in person’s being placed before The Magistrate’s Court.
