NEW PROVIDENCE
OPERATION BLITZ YIELDING POSITIVE RESULTS
The collaborative efforts of law enforcement officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and the Bahamas Immigration Department during an island-wide initiative titled “Operation Blitz” are yielding favorable results.
During the intelligence-led operation, officers implemented a zero-tolerance approach throughout the capital. This strategy led to the execution of search warrants at thirty-six (36) residential and business properties and the apprehension of forty-nine (49) individuals for a range of criminal offences. These offences included possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, threats of death, organized crime, and outstanding warrants for both criminal and traffic violations.
POLICE SEIZED (7) FIREARMS & (64) ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION
Additionally, during the above-mentioned period, the Anti-Gang and Firearms Investigation Task Force Unit formally charged seven individuals, four adult males and three adult females, after officers from New Providence and Abaco successfully seized seven (7) firearms and sixty-four (64) rounds of ammunition. The individuals are scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court in the coming week.
The police would like to encourage the public to contact their nearest police station to provide information regarding suspected criminal activity in their communities, as the Royal Bahamas Police Force remains committed to its ongoing efforts to reduce crime and create safer communities.
POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO ARMED ROBBERIES
Two separate armed robbery incidents that occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024, and resulted in two males being injured are currently under investigation by the police.
In the first incident, which happened around 8:00 a.m., two unknown males, both armed with sharp instruments, approached the victim as he was standing near a bus stop near Windsor Lane and Market Street. It is reported that they robbed the victim of an undisclosed sum of cash and caused injuries to his left hand.
In the second incident, which happened just before 6:00 p.m., a group of males confronted the victim on University Drive when one of the males produced a sharp instrument and stabbed him in the right leg while robbing him of a jewelry item.
The two individuals received medical care for non-life-threatening injuries and were subsequently discharged.
