NEW PROVIDENCE

FIVE FIREARMS CONFISCATED: SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Police arrested six adults in separate incidents following the confiscation of five (5) firearms that contained ammunition.

In the first incident, shortly after 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Quarry Mission Road, where they discovered and confiscated a firearm that contained ammunition concealed in a compartment of a watercraft on the exterior, which led to the arrest of the four occupants, one female aged 26 and three males aged 23, 26, and 28.

In the second incident, around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, officers acting on information searched an abandoned building located at Third Street, Coconut Grove, discovering and confiscating two (2) high-powered weapons. This discovery resulted in no arrests.

In the third incident, shortly after 1:00 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2024 officers from the Mobile Division, while on mobile patrol in the area of East Street south, and Soldier Road conducted a routine vehicle stop and search of a black Toyota Passo. During the search of the vehicle, officers discovered a firearm containing ammunition, which led to the arrest of the sole occupant, a 31-year-old male.

In the final incident, shortly before 3:00 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2024, officers went to an abandoned structure on Deveaux and Market Streets, where they observed a lone male who fled upon seeing them while discarding a firearm in the process. This resulted in a brief pursuit that led to the 35-year-old's apprehension and the retrieval of an unlicensed firearm, which he discarded.

POLICE INVESTIGATES LATEST HOMICIDE

Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, October 3, 2024, claiming the life of a 27-year-old male.

Police received reports of gunshots being discharged around 11:00 p.m., at a business establishment on Baillou Hill Road just north of Carmichael Road. Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male lying on the ground in the parking lot of the establishment suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body.

Emergency Medical Services personnel visited the scene, examined the victim but they were unable to detect any vital signs of life.

Initial inquiries indicate that two male occupants of a light-colored Japanese vehicle approached the victim while he was standing outside; they opened fire on him, shooting him multiple times before fleeing east along Malcolm Road.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying person(s) responsible for stealing a newly purchased 2015 Black Nissan Cube from a residence on Goombay Close-Jubilee Gardens on Friday, October 4, 2024.

POLICE SEEK HELP IN LOCATING DRIVER RESPONSIBLE FOR FATAL HIT & RUN

Police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying the driver involved in the country’s latest fatal accident that claimed the life of an adult male on Friday, October 4, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, around 6:00 a.m., a passerby walking along Strachan's Boulevard off Soldier Road discovered an unresponsive male, known to frequent the area and confined to a wheelchair, on the eastern side of the road.

Emergency medical services personnel responded, and upon examination, they confirmed that the male had no vital signs of life. Furthermore, visible injuries were observed on the male, indicating that a vehicle had collided with him.

Police are urging the driver who failed to remain stationary on the scene to come forward and visit/contact the Traffic Division at 397-8050, 393-7713, or the nearest police station.

SHOOTING UPDATE: THREE ADULT MALES IDENTIFIED

Police wish to provide members of the public with the identities of two homicide victims, as well as the suspect shot by police.

Firstly, 23-year-old Thelamour Miller, who was shot on September 13, 2024, in the area of West Street, died in hospital on Friday, October 4, 2024, as a result of his injuries.

Secondly, the adult male who was fatally shot on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the area of Baillou Hill Road just north of Carmichael Road has been positively identified as 26-year-old Conley Adderley from Pinewood Gardens.

Finally, the adult male who was fatally shot by police on Thursday, October 3, 2024, has been positively identified as 27-year-old Gary Jean Paul from Woods Alley off Wulff Road.
