POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway into a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, which injured two adults, a male and female.

According to preliminary reports, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the victims were standing in front of a residence on Saffron Street in Pinewood Gardens when the occupants of a black Japanese vehicle approached and the rear passenger discharged multiple gunshots in their direction.

As a result, the 33-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body, while the 23-year- old female sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg.

The victims were transported to the hospital by a private vehicle for further medical attention, where the 33-year-old remains in critical condition.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding this latest shooting to please contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2. Anonymous tips are also welcomed through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

POLICE CONFISCATES FIREARM

Officers attached to the Central Intelligence Bureau along with members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated an unlicensed firearm with ammunition on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 9:00 a.m., officers while conducting enquiries in the area of Flint Street noticed a male wanted by police; however, the male, upon seeing the police, fled,dropping a firearm. The suspect was pursued but managed to escape the officers; however, the firearm was recovered.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will continue investigations into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred at a business establishment in the Florida Court area on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:00 a.m., the proprietor, while at the establishment, was approached by an unknown male who was armed with a firearm and subsequently robbed of an undisclosed sum of cash.

UPDATE: SUSPECT ARRESTED BY POLICE FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND FIREARM POSSESSION

A 44-year-old male was arrested by police on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 after he evaded apprehension while dropping an unlicensed firearm in the area of Flint Street.

According to initial reports, on Tuesday, 1 October 2024, around 9:00 a.m., officers conducting inquiries in the Flint Street area identified a suspect wanted for attempted murder; however, upon seeing the police, the suspect fled the area, dropping a firearm in the process.

Acting on intelligence, around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, officers from the Central Intelligence Bureau and Operation Ceasefire, alongside members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, executed a search warrant at a residence on Labour Street, where they successfully apprehended the 44-year-old individual without incident.

Investigations continue.

LATEST HOMICIDE PROBE POLICE

Police are conducting investigations into a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, which resulted in the death of an adult male.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was sitting in an open yard on Piper Lane, between Wilson Track and Palm Beach Avenue, shortly before 5:00 p.m. when two males approached him; however, one of the males, armed with a firearm, shot the victim multiple times before both men fled the scene.

Emergency medical services personnel responded and examined the victim, but were unable to detect any vital signs of life.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed or has knowledge of this incident to come forward by contacting 911, 919, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, or anonymously submit tips through CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).

SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER FIREARM & DRUG CONFISCATION

In separate incidents, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by the K-9 Unit, arrested five adults following the confiscation of a firearm, suspected dangerous drugs and stolen items.

During the first incident, which happened around 6:30 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residential property on Eden Street and arrested two adult males, ages 29 and 30, after discovering a quantity of suspected marijuana and a variety of stolen items. Presently, the weight and value of the suspected marijuana are unknown.

In the second incident, which occurred around 9:00 a.m., officers, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at a residence on Baldwin Avenue, which resulted in the discovery of an unlicensed firearm that contained ammunition, and the subsequent arrest of the occupants—a 42-year-old female and two males aged 19 and 23.

Investigations continue.
