ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FIREARM ARREST

Police on the island of Exuma arrested a 30-year-old male after seizing a firearm during a traffic stop in George Town on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a routine vehicle stop-and-search of a heavily tinted Dodge Ram truck in the area of Slope Hill while executing special operations. The 30-year-old, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested after the search revealed a firearm containing ammunition.

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES DROWNING INCIDENT

Police in Abaco are investigating the circumstances surrounding a drowning incident that occurred at the Union Jack Public Dock involving a 35-year-old female from Florida, U.S.A.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, police on arrival at the dock observed an unresponsive female receiving Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from a relative.

The female did not respond to the resuscitation efforts and was subsequently transported to a medical facility, where she was examined and pronounced dead.

At this time, police do not suspect foul play, as there was no visible trauma observed on her body; however, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations continue.
