NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE CONFISCATES FIREARMS: SUSPECTS ARRESTED

In separate incidents, officers from Operation Ceasefire including members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated two (2) firearms and arrested five adults and one teenage male on Friday, September 20, 2024.

In the first incident, around 8:00 p.m. officers, while on saturation patrol near Pitt Road, conducted a standard stop-and-search of a motorist driving recklessly when they discovered a firearm containing ammunition; this led to the arrest of the occupants, a 21-year-old male and a 20-year- old female.

In the second incident, shortly after 11:00 p.m., a team of officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Bahamas Boulevard in Flamingo Gardens, where they discovered a firearm containing ammunition in the home, leading to the arrest of the occupants: three males ages 17, 18, 23, and one female aged 19.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force will conduct further investigations into these matters.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway into a shooting incident that happened on Friday, September 20, 2024 in the area of Palmetto Avenue.

Initial findings indicate shortly before 7:00 p.m., the victim, upon arriving at his home and exiting his vehicle, noticed a silver Japanese vehicle approaching. It is reported that the occupants of this vehicle then opened fire, leading to the victim sustaining a gunshot wound to his lower extremity.

The victim, aged 36, was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle for medical attention, and he is listed in stable condition.

Police are actively searching for the suspect(s) involved and urge anyone with information about this incident to contact 911, 919, the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991/2, or CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying person(s) responsible for stealing a silver 2007 Nissan Bluebird Sylphy L/P# AP6651 from a residence on Baron Court in the Carmichael Road area on Friday, September 20, 2024.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident after an adult male presented himself to hospital with a gunshot injury to his leg on Saturday, September 21, 2024 around 4:00 p.m.

At present, the details surrounding this incident are unknown; however, police will release more details as they become available.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS GRAND BAHAMA

POLICE INVESTIGATES DROWNING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway into the drowning of a 5-year-old male child which occurred on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at a residence off Albacore Drive in the eastern area of Grand Bahama.

According to initial reports shortly before 2:00 p.m., police were notified of a male child who was submerged in a pool at a residential complex. The child was retrieved from the water by responding officers, who administered CPR until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived. The child was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed.

Investigations continue.
