NEW PROVIDENCE

FIREARM CONFISCATION LEADS TO ARRESTS

Three (3) men were arrested by Operation Ceasefire officers, which included the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, in the Carmichael Road area on Monday, August 26, 2024, following the confiscation of a firearm.

According to initial reports, the officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Centre Drive around 1:00 a.m., where during the search, a firearm containing ammunition was found inside the home leading to the arrest of three (3) male occupants, aged 27, 27, and 19.

Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway after a shooting incident occurred on Monday, August 26, 2024, resulting in the hospitalization of a 60-year-old male.

Police were alerted shortly before 3:00 a.m. of a male who had been shot multiple times in the area of Wulff Road near Lexington Avenue, reportedly by a lone assailant, and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The victim, is presently in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wounds to his upper body and facial region.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are searching for a male suspect who reportedly robbed another male on Sunday, August 25, 2024, shortly before 9:00 a.m.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was outside a licensed premises on Soldier Road and Windsor Place Road when an unknown male approached him, armed with a sharp instrument, and robbed him of cash and other personal belongings before fleeing the scene.

ARRAIGNMENT

On Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., the Criminal Investigation Department will present two adult males, aged 23 and 28, before the Freeport Magistrate Court, charged with three counts of Armed Robbery.

Furthermore, a 33-year-old male will face charges before the Freeport Magistrate Court for Possession an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED & CRIMINALLY CHARGED FOR MAJOR OFFENCES FOR THE PERIOD: 19th AUGUST, 2024 – 25TH AUGUST, 2024

The Royal Bahamas Police Force's zero-tolerance initiatives have led to the arrest of several individuals who were criminally charged by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Anti- Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit.

The Criminal Investigations Department have criminally charged, nine (9) individuals who will appear before the Magistrate Court on Monday, August 26, 2024, for several major offences.

In particular, three adult males will be arraigned at 1:00 p.m. charged with the Murder of Philip Adderley, who was discovered off Southwest Road in the Western District of New Providence on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

In addition, a 24-year-old male is also scheduled to appear for arraignment for the shooting death of Angelo Weech which occurred at the South Beach Canals on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

The remaining individuals faced charges for various offences, such as Armed Robbery & Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm & Ammunition, Fraud by False Pretenses, and Stealing & Receiving.

The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force Unit successfully seized eight (8) firearms and sixty-four (64) rounds of ammunition, resulting in the arrest of ten (10) individuals, including seven adult males and three adult females, from New Providence, Grand Bahama, and Abaco, whose arraignment is also scheduled for Monday, August 26, 2024.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force remains committed to its ongoing efforts to reduce crime and create safer communities, and, therefore, would like to encourage the public to contact their nearest police station to provide information regarding suspected criminal activity in their communities.

NEW PROVIDENCE

OPERATIONS YIELDED POSITIVE RESULTS

During island-wide operations from August 19 to August 25, 2024, the combined efforts of police from Operation Ceasefire, Secure City 2.0, Mobile Division and personnel of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force resulted in profile checks of four hundred forty-five (445) motorists.

This led to the arrest of forty-one (41) individuals for various criminal offences, including Armed Robbery, Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Causing Harm, Threats of death, and Outstanding Warrants of Arrest (criminal and traffic). Additionally, thirtyfive (35) traffic citations were issued to motorists who failed to adhere to the traffic laws and regulations.

FIREARM CONFISCATION LEADS TO ARREST

Three young men, aged 19, 21, and 23, were arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit after a firearm was seized on Monday, August 26, 2024.

According to initial reports around 1:00 p.m., officers, while on routine patrols, stopped and searched a silver Suzuki Swift with three male occupants near a residence in the area of Montgomery Avenue off Carmichael Road, resulting in the discovery of a firearm that contained a quantity of ammunition and the occupants’ subsequent arrest.

The Anti-Gang & Firearm Investigation Task Force Unit will continue investigations into this incident.
