NEW PROVIDENCE
THREE ADULTS IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING FIREARM AND AMMUNITION SEIZURE
The Anti-Gang & Firearms Investigation Task Force Unit confiscated two (2) firearms and ammunition on Friday, August 23, 2024, which resulted in the arrest of three (3) individuals. This collaborative initiative was initiated by officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, the Bahamas Department of Customs, the Department of Immigration, and the U.S.A. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Bureau.
According to preliminary reports, around 2:30 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Alocasia Avenue in Garden Hills. During the search, they discovered an unlicensed firearm, a high-powered weapon, and a quantity of ammunition in the home, resulting in the arrest of three (3) occupants: two males aged 21 and 22, and a 20-year-old female.
Investigations continue into this matter.
DRUG CONFISCATION LEADS TO ARREST
On Thursday 22nd August, 2024, Operation Ceasefire, a joint operation between the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, led to the confiscation of suspected marijuana and the apprehension of a 33-year-old male.
According to reports, around 7:00 p.m., officers from Operation Ceasefire, with the assistance of the K-9 Unit, while executing a search warrant at a residence on John Road, off Market Street, observed a male fleeing the area while holding a bag. Officers pursued and detained this male, and following a search, they discovered that the bag contained a package of suspected marijuana. Subsequently, the male was taken into police custody.
The suspected marijuana weighed 1 pound, 10.75 ounces, with an estimated street value of $2,000.00. Investigations continue into this matter.
POLICE QUESTION ADULT MALE FOR ARMED ROBBERY
Police are questioning a 41-year-old male in connection with an armed robbery that happened on Thursday 22nd August, 2024.
Initial reports indicate that around 11: 30 p.m., six (6) males forced their way into a residence on Johnson Road in Fox Hill, where one of the culprits brandished a firearm, and together, they assaulted and robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash.
Acting on information, police subsequently arrested a 41-year-old male in connection with this incident.
Investigations continue.
FAMILY ISLANDS
ACKLINS: ARRESTS MADE IN DRUG BUST
Police in Acklins arrested three individuals after seizing a large quantity of suspected marijuana on Friday 23rd August, 2024, in Salina Point.
Preliminary reports indicate that officers executed a search warrant at a home shortly before 2:00 a.m. and discovered a large quantity of suspected marijuana on the premises, leading to the arrest of the three occupants, a 34-year-old male and two (2) females, aged 35 and 13.
The suspected marijuana's weight and value are unknown at this time.
Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
