ADULT MALE ARRESTED FOR FIREARM POSSESSION

A 34-year-old male was arrested after joint efforts by police and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force led to the seizure of an unlicensed firearm.

According to reports, around 2:00 p.m., a team of officers from the Southwestern Division, with assistance from the K-9 Unit, acting on information and armed with a search warrant, performed a search of a vehicle parked at a residence on Apple Way off Bellot Road. Officers located an unlicensed firearm that contained ammunition inside, leading to the arrest of the vehicle's owner, a 34-year-old male.

ARMED ROBBERY: FIREARM SEIZED

Police recovered a firearm on Monday, August 19, 2024 after a male suspect involved in an armed robbery incident, dropped his firearm as he was pursued by the police.

According to preliminary reports, officers were on routine mobile patrols near Collins Avenue and Sixth Terrace around 11:00 p.m. when they were stopped by a male who was reportedly robbed at gunpoint of cash outside a business establishment and shot by an unknown male, causing a graze to his left calf.

Officers observed the suspect fleeing north on Collins Avenue and engaged in a foot pursuit. The suspect fired his weapon at the pursuing officers, resulting in a brief exchange, but eluded officers as he hurdled over a perimeter fence, dropping his firearm, which was later retrieved by officers.

Police are actively searching for the suspect connected with this incident and encourage anyone with information to come forward by calling 911, 919, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).

BIMINI: STOLEN VESSEL ALERT

Police in Bimini are seeking the public's assistance in finding a 28-foot light gray 2020 Key West Boat REG #FL549357 with two (2) 250 HP engines that was stolen between 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, and 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, after being moored in waters near a business establishment in Porgy Bay.

HOMICIDE VICTIM IDENTIFIED

Police wish to inform members of the public that the deceased adult male who was found in waters off Southwest Road in the Western District of New Providence on Thursday, August 15, 2024, has been positively identified as 36-year-old Philip Adderley of Garden Hill Estates.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway following a shooting incident on Zion Boulevard that injured a 35- year-old male shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday 20th August, 2024.

Preliminary reports revealed that the victim had just left a residence and was preparing to enter a vehicle when he heard what sounded like gunshots, realizing moments later he had sustained injuries to his face.

The victim presented himself to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and subsequently discharged.

Investigations continue.
