NEW PROVIDENCE

TWO FIREARMS SEIZED BY POLICE

Police confiscated two (2) firearms in separate incidents, one of which led to the arrest of four adult males.

The first incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday 17th August, 2024, on Prince Charles Drive.

According to initial reports, officers on mobile patrol observed four (4) males congregating outside a licensed premises, who, upon noticing them, fled into the establishment. The officers pursued the males and observed a firearm being thrown. Subsequently, the four individuals, ages 49, 48, 38, and 33, were detained and arrested after the firearm, which contained a quantity of ammunition, was retrieved from the area where it was thrown.

The second incident occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday 18th August, 2024, in the Cowpen Road area.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers from Operation Cease Fire, including the Royal Bahamas Police Force, acting on information, proceeded to a “Hot Spot” situated Cowpen Road west, where they searched a bushy area and discovered an unlicensed firearm. This incident resulted in no arrests.

Investigations are ongoing into these matters.

OPERARTION CEASE FIRE: ARRESTS MADE AFTER DRUG SEIZURE

Operation Cease Fire officers, which included the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, apprehended four (4) adults in the early hours of Sunday 18th August, 2024, after seizing 31.8 pounds of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $31,800.00 off Cowpen Road.

Initial reports indicate that around 1:30 a.m., a team of officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Sunset Meadows, where officers found a large quantity of suspected marijuana in the home, resulting in the arrest of the four (4) occupants: two males, aged 42 and 28, and two females, aged 30 and 20.

Investigations continue.

POLICE RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE

On Saturday 17th August, 2024, officers from Operation Cease Fire successfully recovered a blue Honda CR-V L/P #DA5010 from Second Street in Coconut Grove. Reports indicate that the vehicle was stolen from Bahama Avenue in Coconut Grove on Thursday, 15th August 2024.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in locating a gray Nissan Cube L/P #AZ7275 that was reported stolen on Saturday 17th August, 2024, from Sebastian Close in Blue Hill Estates.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are searching for an armed male suspect who is responsible for an armed robbery that happened on Saturday 17th August, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 11:00 a.m., an unknown male entered a community store on Malcolm Road (east), and held the victim gunpoint as he and robbed the store of a sum of cash and other items.

NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE NEAR DROWNING INCIDENT

An investigation is underway into the near drowning of a male toddler at a residence off Fox Hill Road that occurred on Sunday 18th August, 2024.

According to initial reports shortly before 1:00 p.m., police were notified of a male child who had fallen into a pool at a private residence on Springfield Road, and he was not responding to CPR being administered by a relative. On arrival of Emergency Medical Services personnel, the child was transported to the hospital for medical prognosis.

At present, the child is stable, but his condition is listed as serious.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ELEUTHERA: POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING INCIDENT

Police in Eleuthera are investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged drowning incident involving a 68-year-old Caucasian male.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday 18th August, 2024, police were alerted to a body of a male, found unresponsive on the shores of Surfers Beach.

Medical personnel who visited the scene examined the body and were unable to detect any vital signs of life.

At this time, police do not suspect foul play, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations continue.
