NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO ARMED ROBBERIES

Police seek information into two (2) armed incidents that happened on Friday 16th August, 2024.

The first incident occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. outside a residence on Marigold Farm Road, off Joe Farrington Road.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was seated in his black Suzuki Swift L/P #AH9620 when a green-colored Japanese vehicle stopped nearby. It is reported that an unknown male passenger, armed with a firearm, exited the vehicle, confronted the victim, and robbed him of cash and his vehicle before fleeing east, followed by the accomplice vehicle.

Responding officers, acting on information, later recovered the stolen vehicle abandoned in the area of Beach Tree Avenue off Charles Saunders Highway.

The second incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. outside a business establishment on Gladstone Road.

Initial reports indicate that after the victim exited his vehicle, he was approached by two (2) unknown males, both armed with firearms, who robbed him of his silver 2014 Nissan Note L/P #AY2053 and fled the area, traveling south on Gladstone Road.

OPERATION CEASEFIRE: ARRESTS MADE IN FIREARM SEIZURES

In two (2) separate incidents officers from Operation Ceasefire including the Royal Bahamas Defence Force arrested several individuals following the seizure of two (2) firearms.

The first incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Friday 16th August, 2024, off Kemp Road.

Initial reports indicate that a team of officers, acting on information, arrived on Deanza Close and searched a 16-year-old male pedestrian, which led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition in his possession and his subsequent arrest.

The second incident occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. at a residence off Mermaid Boulevard on Saturday 17th August, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that officers executed a search warrant at a home on Goldenway Place where, during the search, they found a firearm containing ammunition inside the residence, which led to the arrest of the four (4) occupants: three males aged 39, 37, and 27, and a 32-year-old female.

Investigations into these matters will continue.

POLICE CONFISCATE SUSPECTED DRUGS

On Friday 16th August, 2024, officers attached to Operation Take Back seized forty (40) pounds of suspected marijuana worth an estimated $40,000.00 in Yellow Elder Gardens.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., a team of officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a bushy area off Seymour Street, where, during the search, they discovered and confiscated a large quantity of suspected marijuana. This incident resulted in no arrests.

Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
