NEW PROVIDENCE
LATEST HOMICIDE PROBE BY POLICE
An investigation was launched on Thursday, August 15, 2024, following the discovery of a deceased adult male in waters off Southwest Road.
According to preliminary reports, shortly after 4:00 p.m., police found an unresponsive male submerged in waters near a dilapidated structure formerly known as Stuart's Cove. Police retrieved the body from the water, which had apparent stab wounds and both hands and feet bound.
Emergency medical services personnel visited the scene, examined the male, but were unable to detect any vital signs of life. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERIES
Police are currently conducting an investigation into four (4) armed robberies that occurred in the capital.
The first incident occurred around 8:15 a.m., on Thursday 15th August, 2024 on Alexandria Boulevard, in Nassau Village.
According to preliminary reports, the victim on arrival at his residence was confronted by an unknown male, armed with a firearm, who robbed him of his blue 2008 Honda Odyssey before fleeing the scene, followed by a black vehicle.
The second incident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Thursday 15th August, 2024, at a business establishment located in a shopping plaza on East Bay Street.
According to reports, four unknown males entered the establishment, all armed with firearms, and reportedly stole the cash registers, which contained an undetermined amount of cash. The culprits fled the scene on foot, heading south across Shirley Street onto Lyon Road, making good on their escape.
The third incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., on Thursday 15th August, 2024 on Baillou Hill Road.
Initial reports confirm that the victim was riding his 2022 blue Yamaha motorcycle on Baillou Hill Road, north of Marshall Road, when a champagne-colored Japanese vehicle, occupied by two (2) unknown males, pursued him and attempted to stop him; however, when the victim refused to stop, one of the suspects fired several gunshots, causing the victim to fall from his motorcycle. This led to one of the suspects riding off with it, followed by the accomplice in the vehicle.
The fourth incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Friday 16th August, 2024, off East Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that three (3) unknown males, one armed with a firearm, approached the victim upon arriving at a Gibbs Corner residence and robbed him of his gold 2008 KIA Rio L/P #AU6518.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
Police are investigating the circumstances of an attempted suicide which occurred on Thursday 15th August, 2024, involving an adult female.
Initial reports indicate that police were alerted of the incident around 9:30 a.m. that a 35-year-old female ingested a large quantity of over-the-counter pills while in her vehicle at a beach on West Bay Street near Skyline Drive.
A family member later found her and transported her to the hospital in a private vehicle for further medical attention and evaluation.

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding a blue Honda CR-V stolen from Bahama Avenue in Coconut Grove on Thursday 15th August, 2024

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY
Police in Grand Bahama are investigating an armed robbery incident at a business establishment located East Mall and Poinciana on Thursday 15th August, 2024.
Preliminary reports confirm that around 4:00 p.m., two (2) unknown males armed with firearms entered and robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing the scene in a white KIA Soul.
Responding officers later discovered the mentioned vehicle, which matched the description of the suspects’ vehicle abandoned on John Wentworth Drive. Further inspection revealed that the vehicle had been stolen during a previous robbery on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
Police are actively searching for the suspects involved and urge anyone with information about this armed robbery to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department in Grand Bahama. Furthermore, anonymous tips are also welcome through CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).
NEW PROVIDENCE
ADULT MALE HOSPITALIZED AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT
A 23-year-old male is hospitalized following a shooting incident in the Bain Town community on Friday 16th August, 2024.
Police were alerted by its ShotSpotter technology shortly before 2:00 p.m. of gunshots being discharged on Hospital Lane off Meadow Street.
According to initial reports, the victim was patronizing a local eatery when a lone gunman approached, produced a firearm, and discharged it in his direction, striking him to the upper torso.
The victim subsequently fled the area, where he was assisted by a private vehicle to the hospital, and presently he is listed in serious condition.
This matter is under active investigation.

UPDATE: MALE SUCCUMBS IN HOSPITAL AFTER SHOOTING
The 23-year-old male who was hospitalized in serious condition following a shooting incident in the Bain Town community on Friday, August 16, 2024, has died as a result of his injuries.
This matter is under active investigation.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS GRAND BAHAMA
TWO U.S. VISITORS ARRAIGNED IN COURT FOR DRUG POSSESSION
Two individuals, a 33-year-old male and a 44-year-old female, who reside in Georgia, U.S.A., appeared before Chief Magistrate Smith in Magistrate Court #2 Grand Bahama on Friday, August 16, 2024, facing charges of possession of dangerous drugs.
The 33-year-old male pleaded guilty to the charge and paid a fine of $500.00, while the charges against the 44-year-old female were dismissed.
