NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM AND ARREST TEENAGER
Officers from Operation Secure City 2.0 (Southern) arrested a teenage male and confiscated an unlicensed firearm on Saturday 10th August, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that officers were conducting patrols around 7:00 p.m. when they observed a male acting suspiciously walking on Milton Street who, shortly thereafter discarded an object into a bushy area, alerting the officers to approach and detain him. After searching the area, the officers discovered a firearm containing ammunition, resulting in the arrest of the 15-year-old juvenile.
Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT
Police seek the public’s assistance in finding two (2) vehicles, a brown 2014 Nissan Note and a white 2013 Nissan Cube L/P #AK3280, that were reported stolen on Sunday 11th August, 2024,from University Drive.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS
GRAND BAHAMA: MAN ARRESTED IN DRUG CONFISCATION
Police in Grand Bahama arrested a 32-year-old male on Saturday 10th August, 2024, following the confiscation of suspected dangerous drugs shortly after 5:00 p.m.
According to initial reports, officers were conducting mobile patrols when they performed a routine stop-and-search of a vehicle on Newton Crest. During the search, they found a quantity of suspected marijuana in the vehicle, which led to the arrest of the lone occupant.
The suspected marijuana’s weight and street value are unknown at this time. Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
ABACO: POLICE SEIZE FIRARM & AUMMUNTION
Police in Abaco seized two (2) firearms and a quantity of ammunition on Sunday 11th August, 2024, leading to the arrest of three (3) adult males.
Preliminary reports confirm that around 2:00 a.m., officers on mobile patrols conducted a standard stop-and-search of a blue Mazda Demio on S. C. Bootle Highway where two (2) unlicensed firearms were discovered in the vehicle, leading to the apprehension of the two (2) occupants, aged 33 and 27.
Following this arrest, officers executed a search warrant at the 33-year-old male residence in Central Pines Estates. During the search, a quantity of ammunition was found inside the home, which resulted in the subsequent arrest of his 75-year-old father.
Investigations are ongoing into this matter.
FAMILY ISLANDS
LONG ISLAND: POLICE SEARCH FOR MALE AT DEAN’S BLUE HOLE
Police and community volunteers on Long Island are searching for the body of an adult male resident who reportedly drowned at the Dean's Blue Hole on Saturday 10th August, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 7:00 p.m., an adult male and others were enjoying a swim when the male reportedly dived into the blue hole and failed to resurface.
Officers, with the assistance of local scuba divers, are currently making checks for the missing male.
Additional information will be provided upon the conclusion of search and rescue efforts.
FAMILY ISLANDS
ELEUTHERA: POLICE INVESTIGATE FIRE
Police on Harbour Island along with volunteer firefighters successfully extinguished a blaze that occurred at a public school site on Saturday 10th August, 2024.
According to initial reports, police were informed of a fire at the Harbour Island All Age School on Gaol Street shortly before 11:00 p.m. When officers and volunteer firefighters arrived, they met a demolished classroom engulfed in flames.
The fire was extinguished and confined only to the demolished classroom. There were no injuries or damage to any other portion of the structure reported during this incident. Officers are collaborating with community members to assist in debris removal.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Investigations are ongoing.
