NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE DROWNING

Police are investigating the drowning of an adult male that occurred on Sunday 04th August, 2024, at Jaws beach off Western Road.

Initial reports indicate that around 8:00 p.m., the victim, a 40-year-old male, was found unresponsive, submerged in waters. Other beachgoers assisted him to shore and administered CPR.

On the arrival of EMS, he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by an attending medical physician.

Police are continuing further inquiries into this incident.

OPERATION SECURE CITY 2.0 YIELD POSITIVE RESULTS

The Royal Bahamas Police Force conducted operation "Secure City 2.0" from July 29th to August 4th, 2024. The operation aimed to minimize and prevent criminal activity by targeting prolific offenders, organized criminal gangs, and motorists who failed to follow the traffic laws and regulations.

As a result of aggressive stop and search, twelve (12) individuals were arrested for various criminal offences, and traffic enforcement citations were issued.

The public is encouraged to comply with all laws governing the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, as failure to do so will result in individuals being placed before the Magistrate’s Court.

CAT ISLAND: MALE PEDESTRIAN DIES FROM TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Police in Cat Island are investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Monday 05th August, 2024, resulting in the death of an adult male.

Preliminary reports revealed that around 12:15 a.m., an adult male driving a vehicle north in the Smith's Bay settlement struck two male pedestrians from New Providence, ages 27 and 30, resulting in severe injuries.

Both victims were transported to the medical clinic, but the 27-year-old succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

The driver is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
