NEW PROVIDENCE

ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery incident that happened on Friday, August 2, 2024.

According to initial reports, the victim was sitting in a vehicle near a restaurant on West Bay Street shortly before 5:00 p.m. when an unknown male, armed with a firearm, approached the vehicle, robbed the victim of a sum of cash, and then fled the scene.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SEXUAL ASSAULT INCIDENTS

Police are investigating two (2) alleged sexual assault incidents that took place in the capital.

The first incident occurred on Sears Hill Road off Shirley Street on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Preliminary reports suggest that the victim, an adult female, was at a residence when an adult male known to her sexually assaulted her.

The second incident happened on Friday, August 2, 2024, off Baillou Hill Road around 11:00 p.m. Initial reports suggest that an unknown male sexually assaulted the victim, an adult female, in an abandoned building on Deveaux Street.

Police are actively pursuing promising leads in both cases. Investigations continue.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

Officers from Operation Cease Fire recovered a silver Honda Fit L/P #AZ4438 on Saturday, August 3, 2024, around 2:00 a.m., in the area of Zion Boulevard off Baillou Hill Road south. The vehicle was reportedly stolen during an armed robbery on Saturday, 27 July 2024. The recovery did not lead to any arrests.

The Criminal Investigation Department will continue looking into this matter.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ELEUTHERA: POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM; MAN ARRESTED

Police in Eleuthera confiscated a firearm and arrested an adult male on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in Hatchet Bay around 2:00 a.m.

According to reports, a team of officers conducted a routine stop-and-search of a motorist driving off Queens Highway when they discovered a firearm containing ammunition in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the lone occupant, a 39-year-old male.

Investigations are ongoing.
