NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING
An investigation is underway into a shooting incident that occurred near Fox Hill Road, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old male.
Police were alerted by its Shot Spotter technology of gunshots being discharged in the area of Romer Street off Fox Hill Road shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Responding officers, on arrival in the area, met an adult male lying on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
EMS personnel arrived at the scene and examined the 35-year-old, but they were unable to find any vital signs of life.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was walking in a western direction along Romer Street when a blue Japanese vehicle approached him. It is reported that three males, all armed with firearms, exited the vehicle and began discharging gunshots at the victim, resulting in him being shot multiple times. The assailants, subsequently returned to their vehicle and fled the immediate area.

POLICE QUESTIONS MAN IN WOMAN’S DEATH
Police are questioning a 51-year-old male in connection with the death of a 44-year-old female that occurred on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that, acting on information, officers arrived at a residence on Homestead Street off Homestead Avenue around 11:30 a.m., where they were directed to the rear of a single-story home, and they found an unresponsive female on the inside with apparent injuries to the upper body.
EMS personnel visited the scene; they examined the female but were unable to detect any vital life signs.
On the scene, police arrested a 51-year-old male resident who is believed to be the female's companion; he is currently assisting police with this ongoing investigation.
TWO FIREARMS CONFISCATED BY POLICE
Officers from the Southwestern Division working in collaboration with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force confiscated two (2) firearms off Fire Trail Road on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Initial reports revealed that shortly before 1:00 p.m., officers acting on information arrived at a property on Allen Close, where they attempted to execute a search warrant. However, upon police arrival, the sole male occupant fled the property; they pursued him, but he managed to escape. Officers observed him discarding a firearm during the brief pursuit, and they retrieved it along with another firearm they found within the property's perimeter.
Investigations are ongoing.
STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT
Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Tuesday, July 30, 2024:
- . A black 2011 Nissan Note L/P # AP0994 – stolen from Alexandria Boulevard, Nassau Village.
- . A silver 2010 Nissan March – stolen from East Street.

ELEUTHERA: SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR DANGEROUS DRUGS
A 27-year-old male was taken into custody after police seized a significant quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Preliminary reports indicate that the officers, while in the area of “The Bluff," conducted a routine vehicle stop-and-search of a gray Honda Accord, where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana inside the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of the sole male occupant. The suspected marijuana weighed one pound, with an estimated street value of $1,000.00. Investigations continue.
NORTHERN BAHAMAS
GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE CONFISCATE DRUGS
Police in Grand Bahama confiscated one pound of suspected marijuana worth an estimated $1,000.00 on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the area of Columbus Park.
Preliminary reports revealed Drug Enforcement Unit officers were on mobile patrol when they noticed a dark-colored Japanese vehicle speeding away from the park shortly after 2:00 p.m. The vehicle was pursued by officers, but the driver was able to evade them. The officers returned to the initial location conducted a search and found a quantity of suspected marijuana in a bushy area.
Investigations continue.
ABACO: POLICE CONFISCATE FIREARM
Officers from the Abaco Police Division seized a firearm shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July, 29, 2024.
According to preliminary reports, while in the area of Central Pines, officers, acting on information, searched an abandoned appliance, discovering and confiscating the weapon.
This incident did not result in any arrests. Investigations continue.
