NEW PROVIDENCE

TWO MEN APPREHENDED BY POLICE FOLLOWING LATEST HOMICIDE

Police apprehended two adult males on Saturday 20th July, 2024 following a shooting incident on Pinecrest Drive off East Street South that claimed the life of a 24-year-old male.

Initial reports indicate that around 7:00 p.m. gunshots emanating on Pinecrest Drive prompted officers from the East Street South Police Station to leave the station, and as they proceeded to the rear, they observed a dark gray Nissan Cube fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.

It is reported that the officers, upon seeing the vehicle, quickly responded by entering one of their private vehicles, which was parked at the rear of the station, and pursued the vehicle in question onto Bamboo Boulevard, where it collided with another private vehicle driven by a lone male; however, no one was injured.

It is further reported that three male suspects exited the vehicle and ran north onto Thatch Palm Avenue, where officers pursued them on foot and successfully apprehended one of the suspects, a 25-year-old male.

A second police unit conducting saturation patrols joined the pursuit, where one of the suspects, a 21-year-old male, produced a firearm and engaged officers; he was subsequently shot in the lower body and taken to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition under police custody.

At the same time, another unit responded to Pinecrest Drive, the scene of the initial gunshots, and officers found a red Dodge Ram truck that had collided into a home and an adult male on the inside, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.

EMS personnel responded; they examined the victim but were unable to find any vital signs of life.

Police have seized a handgun and a high-powered weapon, as well as ski masks and gloves. In addition, the vehicle in question (gray Nissan Cube) was reported stolen from the Carmichael Road area on July 17, 2024.

Police are actively searching for a third suspect in relation to this incident. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 502- 9991/2, 919, 911, or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).
