NEW PROVIDENCE
SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN SUSPECTED DRUGS AND MARIJUANA PLANTS SEIZURE
On Thursday, July 18, 2024, police confiscated fifteen (15) pounds of suspected marijuana worth an estimated $15,500.00, leading to the arrest of four adult males.
According to reports, a team of officers from Operation “Eagle Claw” executed a search warrant around 2:30 p.m. where they searched a multi-complex building on an unnamed road off Infant View Road and discovered the following: twenty-one (21) suspected marijuana plants and a large quantity of suspected marijuana, leading to the arrest of four male occupants, aged 52, 27, 19, and 18.
Investigations are ongoing.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY INTO FOUR HOMICIDES
Police are investigating the shooting deaths of four male adults in the capital overnight.
In the first incident, two men believed to be in their forties died following a shooting incident that occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, near Pineyard Road.
According to preliminary reports, the victims had just arrived at a residence on Penford Close in a white Nissan Tiida when the occupants of a dark-colored Japanese vehicle approached and opened fire, shooting both men multiple times.
It is further reported that the victims both exited the vehicle in an attempt to evade their assailants; however, they collapsed outside of a nearby residence.
Both victims were assessed by emergency medical technicians, but no vital signs of life were found.
Additionally, during the course of the investigation, officers discovered a significant quantity of suspected marijuana inside the victim’s vehicle.
The second incident occurred on Friday, July 19, 2024, just after 1:00 a.m., when police's ShotSpotter technology detected gunshots on Crooked Island Street, north of Palmetto Street.
According to preliminary reports, two (2) unknown males approached a 24-year-old man outside a bar, where they reportedly brandished a firearm and opened fire, shooting the 24-year-old and injuring a 41-year-old woman who was standing nearby before they fled the immediate area.
The male victim collapsed after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. He was examined by EMS personnel, who were unable to detect any vital signs of life. The female victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle for medical attention after she was grazed in the head. At present, she remains in stable condition.
In the final incident, on Friday, July 19, 2024, sometime around 4:30 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Sumner Street and Solider Road when they came across a silver Daihatsu Hijet van on the eastern side of the street. Upon closer inspection of the vehicle, they discovered a lone male driver believed to be in his early thirties, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso.
According to initial reports, the driver of the van had pulled to the side of the street when a gray Japanese vehicle pulled alongside him. It is reported that the occupants of the Japanese vehicle fired gunshots into his vehicle, resulting in him being shot.
The assailants then fled west onto Soldier Road, making good on their escape, while the lone driver also attempted to flee, but he eventually collided with a pole, and the vehicle came to a stop.
Emergency medical technicians responded to the scene, examined the victim, and determined that he showed no signs of life.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY
An investigation has been launched into an alleged armed robbery incident that occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the Fritz Lane area.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was sitting on the porch of his residence shortly before 7:00 p.m. when a lone male, allegedly armed with a firearm, approached him and robbed him of a sum of cash and other personal items before fleeing the area in a silver Japanese vehicle, making good on his escape.
