NEW PROVIDENCE

MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING FIREARM AND DRUG SEIZURE

A 41-year-old male was arrested on Sunday, July 14, 2024, after Northeastern Division officers seized a firearm and quantity of suspected marijuana.

Initial reports indicate that around 8:00 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Lyon Road off Kemp Road, where they discovered and confiscated the items, which led to the arrest of the sole occupant, the 41-year-old male.

The suspected marijuana's estimated weight and street value are currently unknown. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ARMED ROBBERY

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery incident that occurred on Monday July 15, 2024, around 3:00 a.m. off West Bay Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim, on arrival at a residence on Devonshire Street, was in a gold Nissan March rental vehicle when two (2) unknown males exited a burgundy Japanese vehicle, armed with firearms, and reportedly approached and robbed the victim of a large amount of cash along with the rental vehicle.

SHOP BREAKING INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

Police are currently searching for the person(s) responsible for breaking into a business establishment located on Bernard Road.

The police were notified of the incident on Sunday, July 14, 2024, shortly after 7:00 a.m.

Initial reports revealed that the culprits allegedly damaged a rear door to force entry into the establishment and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY

An investigation has been launched into an alleged robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 14, 2024,off Fox Hill Road.

Initial reports suggest that around 7:30 p.m., the victim arrived on Springfield Road to conduct a sales transaction of a laptop with a male she met on Facebook; however, while showing him the item, he physically assaulted her and stole the laptop before fleeing the scene.

Police wish to encourage members of the public to utilize the services of the Royal Bahamas Police Force when conducting business transactions with persons unknown. STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in locating a black Toyota Passo L/P #AV7925 that was reportedly stolen from Shirley Street off Village Road.

Police are appealing to members of the public to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. If you have any information about this theft or spot this vehicle, please contact 911/ 919, the nearest police station, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477).

Recovered

The following vehicles were recovered on Sunday, July 14, 2024:

  1. A 2006 Dodge Ram L/P #AE5647 – recovered on Fox Hill Road. It was reported stolen on Thursday 11th July, 2024.
  2. A purple 2012 Nissan Cube L/P #AY0602 – recovered in Blue Hill Heights off Tonique Darling-Williams Highway. It was reported stolen on Thursday 13th June, 2024.

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: ARRAIGNMENT UPDATE

Police in Grand Bahama wish to inform the general public that the following individuals were arraigned in the Magistrate Court on Monday, July 15, 2024:

  1. Margaret Mathiex and Marc Rolle were arraigned in court #2, before Senior Magistrate Charlton Smith.

    Margaret Mathiex was charged individually with multiple fraud-related offences, including Forgery, Possession of a Forged Document, Uttering a Forged Document, Conspiracy to Commit Fraud, Fraud by False Pretenses, and Money Laundering.

    Both Margaret Mathiex and Marc Rolle faced multiple charges together, including Money Laundering, Fraud by False Pretenses and, Conspiracy to Commit Fraud.

    Both Mathiex and Rolle entered not guilty pleas and received bail, with Mathiex receiving bail in the sum of nine thousand dollars ($9,000.00) and Rolle receiving bail in the sum of six thousand dollars ($6,000.00). The matter was adjourned until November 5, 2024.

  2. Edwin Bauld, aged 41, was arraigned before Magistrate Laquay Laing for Receiving, Disseminating or Distributing Pornography Material, Conspiracy to Commit Extortion and Causing or Inciting a Child to be involved in Pornography.

He was not required to enter a plea, bail was denied, and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections until September 26, 2024.
