NEW PROVIDENCE

MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING DEADLY SHOOTING

Police are questioning a 23-year-old male in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday 14th July, 2024, which left one (1) male dead and another injured.

Police were alerted just around 2:30 a.m. by its ShotSpotter Technology of gunshots being detected on Nassau Street at a licensed premises. Upon arrival, police met three (3) men, aged 42, 28, and 23, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Initial reports suggest that the 23-year-old was engaged in an argument with two (2) other males within the establishment, after which he exited, returned with a firearm, and opened fire towards the establishment; as a result, the 42-year-old and the 28-year-old were injured.

The victims were taken to the hospital in a private vehicle for medical attention. The 42-year-old suffered an injury to his lower body, while the 28-year-old was shot multiple times; however, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The 23-year-old suspect also sustained gunshot injuries to his leg and upper body. He was arrested and taken to the hospital via EMS personnel for medical attention and is currently hospitalized in stable condition under police custody.

A firearm containing ammunition that is suspected to be connected with this incident was confiscated by officers from the Mobile Division in the vicinity of a business establishment on Nassau Street.

Investigations are ongoing.

ABACO: POLICE QUESTIONS SUSPECT IN ARMED ROBBERY

Police in Abaco are questioning a 31-year-old male in connection with an alleged armed robbery that took place on Saturday 13th July, 2024, in Marsh Harbour.

According to initial reports, shortly before 8:00 a.m., the victim was sitting in his vehicle on Bay Street when he was approached by an unknown gunman, who held him at bay and robbed him of a large quantity of cash before fleeing the immediate area. Acting on information, officers later arrested the 31-year-old male. Investigations are ongoing.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force, in partnership with Doctor's Hospital, will be introducing a new addition to its fleet - the Royal Bahamas Police Force Ambulance. The unveiling will take place on Monday, July 15, 2024, commencing at 2:00 p.m.
