NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING

A 29-year-old male from Ross Corner is in the hospital after being shot by police while armed with a cutlass on Wednesday 03rd July 2024.

According to initial reports, shortly before 7:00 a.m., a female was in the area of Marlborough and West Bay Streets when she was approached, robbed of her handbag, and assaulted in the face by a male armed with a cutlass.

Responding officers observed the male, who was still armed with the cutlass, in the area of Baillou Hill Road and Lewis Street. Further reports revealed that when one of the officers approached the suspect, the suspect proceeded to attack the officer and was subsequently shot in the leg.

The suspect was taken to the hospital via EMS personnel, where he remains in stable condition in police custody. Police investigations continue.

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN FIREARM AND DRUG SEIZURE

Officers from Operation Ceasefire arrested a 29-year-old male after he was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as a quantity of suspected marijuana, on Tuesday 02nd July 2024.

According to initial reports, officers acting on information executed a search warrant on the suspects’ residence on Curtis Street off Finlayson Street, where they discovered the items and subsequently arrested the sole occupant.

The weight and value of the drugs are unknown. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT

A shooting incident off Kennedy Subdivision on Tuesday 02nd July, 2024, has left an adult male hospitalized.

Initial reports indicate that shortly before 10:00 p.m., the victim was outside a residence on Malcolm Road east, when the occupants of a black Japanese model vehicle opened fire on the victim shooting him multiple times. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he remains in stable condition.

Police are aggressively searching for the culprits who fled the area south on Revival Faith Way.

POLICE SEEK ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police are actively in search of three (3) males, whom they want to question in relation to two (2) separate armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday 02nd July, 2024.

The first incident reportedly occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m., in the parking lot of a church on Meeting Street off Nassau Street, and resulted in the victim being robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash, by a male allegedly armed with a handgun.

The second incident reportedly took place shortly after 9:00 p.m., off McKinney Drive and resulted in a female being robbed of her white 2017 Chevrolet Cruz L/P AV4834.

Initial reports indicate that the victim was seated in her vehicle on Bellot Road when a gray Japanese model vehicle pulled behind. It is reported that two males, both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns approached the victim and robbed her of her vehicle.

The culprits reportedly fled the area in the stolen vehicle, followed by the accomplice vehicle.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED AND STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

Three (3) males ages 20, 19 and 18 years are in police custody after they were found in possession of a stolen vehicle on Tuesday 02nd July, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 8:30 a.m., officers were on routine saturation patrol when they discovered the 2013 white Nissan Note L/P AZ8712 on Meadows Lane off East Street and subsequently arrested the males. Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING STOLEN VEHICLES

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Tuesday 02nd July, 2024:

  1. A brown 2012 Nissan Juke L/P #AY2967 – stolen from Amaryllis Avenue in Garden Hills.
  2. A white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado L/P #AD1474 – stolen from Boatswain Hill off Carmichael Road.
