NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE RECENT HOMICIDE

Police are questioning a 24-year-old male in connection with the country’s latest homicide, which occurred on Friday 28th June, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 10:00 p.m., a female, on arrival at a residence on Baillou Hill Road South, observed the male staggering North along Baillou Hill Road, North of Zion Boulevard. It is reported that as the male approached the female's vehicle, he collapsed and became unresponsive.

Upon examination, it was discovered that the male had sustained a large laceration to his neck. Subsequently, EMS personnel were contacted, and upon arrival to the scene, they found no vital signs of life.

Police are actively investigating this latest homicide and urge members of the public who may have information that can assist with the investigations to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigations Department at 502-9991/2.

UPDATE: FEMALE SHOT IN YELLOW ELDER GARDENS SUCCUMBS

Police wish to inform the public that the 36 year old female shot in Yellow Elder Gardens, on Sunday 23rd June, 2024 has died.

Initial reports indicated, the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with her 37 year old boyfriend, outside their residence on Melvern Road, when the shooting occurred.

The victim was taken to hospital via private vehicle where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday 29th June, 2024.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ELEUTHERA: MALE ARRESTED & ARRAIGNED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Police in Eleuthera arrested a 30-year-old male after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana on Friday 28th June, 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around noon, officers from the Flying Squad Unit were on routine patrol in the settlement of James Cistern when they conducted a search of a gray Honda Fit, driven by the suspect, and discovered the drugs.

The driver was arrested, charged, and subsequently arraigned before Magistrate Cara Turnquest Deveaux, where he pleaded guilty and was fined fifteen hundred ($1,500.00) dollars.
