NEW PROVIDENCE
POLICE SEEK DRIVER IN HIT & RUN
Police on the island of New Providence are searching for the driver of a red vehicle who struck a police officer while executing his duties on Wednesday 26th June, 2024.
According to preliminary reports, around 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a partyon St. Vincent Road, attended by a large number of teenagers. Once on scene, officers were alerted to persons being in possession of a firearm.
It is reported that as the officers approached the males, they quickly got into a red vehicle in an attempt to evade capture. It is further reported that the officers beckoned for the driver to stop; however, he accelerated towards them, hitting one of the officers, which resulted in the other officer discharging his police service weapon at the suspect’s vehicle.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital via EMS personnel, where he was treated for his injuries and discharged.
Moments after the incident, a 17-year-old male presented himself at the hospital with gunshot injuries, stating that while at a party on St. Vincent Road, he was shot.
Police are actively investigating this incident and appeal to members of the public who may have seen a red vehicle with gunshot damage to contact police.
SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
A 38-year-old male is hospitalized after being shot on Wednesday 26th June, 2024 in the area of South and Augusta Streets.
Initial reports indicated that around 3:40 p.m., the victim was walking upstairs to the court's eastern parking lot on Augusta Street when the occupants of a silver Japanese model vehicle opened fire on him, shooting him multiple times.
The victim was taken to the hospital by EMS personnel, where he remains in stable condition.
Police are questioning a 48-year-old male from Nassau Street in connection with this incident. Police investigations continue.
POLICE SEEK ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT
Police are searching for a male who reportedly brandished a firearm and robbed a couple of their silver Honda Fit, which contained personal items and a white Shih Tzu puppy.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday 26th June, 2024, on West Bay Street in the area of the caves.
