NEW PROVIDENCE

ARRAIGNMENT

Police wish to advise that at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday 20th June, 2024, the following arraignments will take place at Magistrate Court:-

  • A juvenile male will be arraigned on Manslaughter charges. This is in relation to the shooting death of 23 year old MEGAN BETHEL which occurred on Thursday 13th June 2024 at Vinspen Road off Cowpen Road.

  • A 42 year old male of Soldier Road will be arraigned on Murder charges. This is in relation to the incident which occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday 15th June, 2024 on Carmichael Road west of Sir Milo Butler Highway. Preliminary reports indicated that two brothers were inside a Nissan Note at the intersection of Sir Milo Butler Highway and Carmichael Road, when they got into an altercation. It is reported that the younger brother assaulted the older brother to the head with an object and exited the vehicle on foot. It is further reported that the older sibling pursued the younger brother and fatally struck him with his vehicle.

LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS SEIZE FIREARM

Officers attached to the Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit seized a loaded firearm on Wednesday 19th June 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 1:30 p.m. officers, acting on information, proceeded to Sir Milo Butler Highway where they discovered the weapon. No arrests were made in connection with the discovery. Investigations are ongoing into this matter.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vehicle that was reported stolen on Wednesday 19th June 2024:

  • A pearl white 2014 Honda Fit L/P #DA7932 – stolen from Boatswain Hill off Carmichael Road

NORTHERN BAHAMAS

GRAND BAHAMA: POLICE CONFISCATE SUSPECTED DRUGS

On Wednesday 19th June 2024, police on Grand Bahama confiscated four (4) pounds of suspected Marijuana from a property on Diamond Drive in Coral Gardens.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 1:00 p.m. officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol when they observed two (2) males acting in a suspicious manner.

It is reported that the males on seeing the officers fled on foot and were able to evade police. The drugs have an estimated street value of $4,000.00. Investigations are ongoing.
