NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE SEIZE TWO (2) FIREARMS, AMMUNTION, AND SUSPECTED DRUGS

Officers attached to Operation Ceasefire, inclusive of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force seized two (2) firearms, along with a large quantity of ammunition and suspected Marijuana on Monday 17th June 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that around 9:30 p.m., officers conducted a search of a wooden structure on Montgomery Avenue off Carmichael Road where they discovered a high-powered firearm, a handgun, ammunition and a large quantity of suspected marijuana. No arrests were made in connection with the incident.

The estimated weight and street value of the drugs is unknown at this time. Investigations continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Police are aggressively investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged Sexual Assault of a 24 year old female.

The incident reportedly occurred in southwestern, New Providence on Monday 17th June 2024.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 9:00 a.m. the victim was at her place of employment when she was reportedly assaulted by a male known to her.

Police are actively in search of the suspect. Investigations continue into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ALLEGED DROWNING

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning of a 13 year old male which occurred on Monday 17th June 2024 at a residence off West Bay Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that sometime around 8:30 p.m. the teen was swimming with family members at a pool in Delaporte Point, when he became unresponsive.

The teen was retrieved from the water by family members who administered CPR until EMS personnel arrived to render medical assistance; however, they confirmed the teen had no vital signs of life.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT

Police seek the public’s assistance in finding the following vehicle that was reported stolen on Monday 17th June, 2024:

  • A white 2022 Nissan Urvan L/P #AZ2826

POLICE INVESTIGATE HOMICIDE

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the person/s responsible for a shooting incident that has left a man dead.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Monday 17th June 2024, the male was found unresponsive in bushes off Independence Highway near a high school.

At present, police are uncertain of the circumstances surrounding this incident and appeal to members of the public who may have any information that can assist with their investigation to contact 911, 919, or the Criminal Investigation Department @ 502-9991/2, 502-9975/6 or CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS (8477).
