NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE LATEST HOMICIDE

An adult male along with four adult females are in police custody after a fatal shooting incident claimed the life of an adult female around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday 13th June, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, a group of females arrived at a residence on Vinspen Road, off Cowpen Road, and confronted an adult male and female in the home. It is reported that the male produced a firearm and fatally shot one of the females.

Subsequently, police arrested the male resident along with four females. Investigations continue.

POLICE ARREST MALES IN STOLEN VEHICLE

Three (3) males’ ages 36, 25, and 22 years are in police custody after they were found in a stolen Nissan Juke on Thursday 13th June, 2024.

According to initial reports, shortly after 6:00 a.m., officers of the Mobile Division acting on intelligence proceeded to Rosedale Street off Mackey, where they located the vehicle and subsequently arrested the males.

Officers also discovered and confiscated a loaded handgun from the men; police investigations continue.

DANGEROUS DRUGS CONFISCATED BY POLICE

Police on the island of New Providence confiscated a large quantity of suspected Marijuana on Thursday 13th June, 2024.

According to preliminary reports, sometime around 11:40 a.m., officers attached to Operation Ceasefire acting on intelligence conducted a search of a bushy area on Unison Road off Carmichael Road, where they discovered the drugs.

The drugs weighed fifteen (15) pounds, with an estimated street value of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00). No arrests were made in connection with this incident. Police investigation continues.

FAMILY ISLANDS

ARRAIGNMENT UPDATE: SOUTH ANDROS

Police wish to inform police that on Thursday 13th June, 2024, Dave Elmore Neely of Cowpen Road appeared before the Magistrate Court in South Andros for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

Initial reports indicated that shortly after 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday 12th June, 2024 security officers from the Airport Authority discovered the weapon while conducting routine checks of passengers and later handed it over to police.

The 41-year-old was sentenced to two and a half years for Firearm Possession and one year for Ammunition Possession. The sentences will run concurrently.

NEW PROVIDENCE

POLICE INVESTIGATE TRAFFIC FATALITY

Police are investigating a traffic accident that has claimed the life of a 62 year old male. The incident reportedly occurred shortly before noon in the area of Jack Fish Drive and Carmichael Road, that involved a pedestrian and a black Dodge Ram truck.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the truck was traveling east along Carmichael Road, when a male pedestrian attempted to cross the street from the southern side of Carmichael Road to the northern side, when he was struck.

EMS responded and confirmed no vital signs of life. The driver of the truck remained on the scene and is assisting police with their investigations.

ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY

On Thursday 13th June 2024, an armed robbery occurred at a business establishment off Bacardi Road shortly after 9:45 p.m.

Initial reports indicate that a gunman entered the premises, held an employee at bay and robbed the establishment of a large sum of cash, after which he fled the scene in a burgundy-colored American model vehicle.

POLICE RECOVERS STOLEN VEHICLE & SEEK ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING OTHER STOLEN VEHICLES

Police wish to advise the public that a burgundy Nissan Juke L/P #AV7712 which was reported stolen on Thursday 13th June 2024 has been recovered. Police recovered the vehicle on Springfield Road, off Fox Hill Road. Police investigations continue.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the following vehicles that were reported stolen on Thursday 13th June 2024:

  1. A white Nissan Cube
  2. A purple Nissan Cube L/P #AY0602
  3. A silver 2011 Suzuki Carry L/P #AH0988
  4. A white Nissan Serena L/P #DA6735 –
