NEW PROVIDENCE
FIREARM AND SUSPECTED DRUGS CONFISCATED BY POLICE
Police arrested a 34-year-old male at a residence on Saturday 01st June, 2024, after confiscating a firearm and suspected dangerous drugs.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 7:00 p.m., officers from the Anti-Gang & Firearms Task Force Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Myrton Avenue off Farrington Road. The lone male occupant ran upon seeing the officers and was observed throwing several objects from the bathroom window into a neighbouring yard. He was caught and taken to the area where the objects were discarded, leading to the discovery of a quantity of marijuana in a bushy area and his arrest. Upon returning to the home, officers also found a loaded firearm during their search.
Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
ARMED ROBBERY INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
An investigation is underway into an armed robbery incident that occurred on Sunday 02nd June, 2024, on Carmichael Road around 12:30 a.m.
According to initial reports, the victim was driving west near a Antigua Street when a white Japanese vehicle overtook and blocked him. Three (3) unknown males quickly exited the car, with one of them approaching the victim’s door, and brandishing a firearm. They robbed him of his silver 2009 Nissan Serena L/P #TN1674 and left the scene traveling south on Antigua Street followed by the accomplice’s vehicle.
